Dirk kuyt linked with cardiff

Thu Apr 25, 2013 3:20 pm

Cardiff City will celebrate promotion to the Premier League by signing former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt from Fenerbahce.

Holland international Kuyt joined the Europa League semi-finalists last summer when he left Anfield in a £1million deal.

He will turn 33 before the start of the new season but Bluebirds bosses reckon he will still possess enough of his trademark strength and stamina to make an impact in the English top flight.

Sources in Turkey suggest Kuyt, who would link up with former Reds striker Craig Bellamy if he joins Cardiff, could be allowed to leave for a fraction of the fee he cost Fenerbahce.

The Welsh club have a £25m budget after winning the Championship title but intend to be as prudent as possible in their quest for Premier League survival.

Former Swansea midfielder Scott Sinclair, who wants to leave Manchester City, is another target but he is believed to favour a move to West Brom or Aston Villa – if the Claret and Blues avoid relegation.

Even though he's 33 I'd have him all day long he's a quality player and good professional would fit in well with our work ethic :ayatollah:

Would love him here. Best of the supposed links so far. But he must have been on 75k easily at Liverpool. We could offer, what 30? maybe 35?

He can't be on much more than 30/40k in turkey can he ?
He's the type of player who shines in big games and allways seems to pop up with important goals , exactly what we need IMO

In turkey the tax nothing compared to in the UK so 30k a week out there is worth a lot more than in the UK.

I would love to see Kuyt at Cardiff. He might be a bit old but he has experience o top flight premiership football and I think could be a key player for at least 1-2 seasons

VT said he doesn't want players coming near the end of their careers for one last pay-day(which is hypocritical when it comes to Bellamy) He would be a good signing, just to offer that experience to players etc. I'd be happy with Sinclair if he knuckled down though! :ayatollah:

Would be a superb addition IMHO. He was a cult hero at Anfield due to his work ethic but was often played out of position where at Feyenoord he made his name as an out and out centre forward. I'll be surprised if it happens though. I can't recall that publication getting anything remotely correct in the past

Another day another name

Whilst I doubt that there's any real link between the club and this story, he would be a great addition to the team.

I'm hoping tomorrows link will be Pele and then followed by Hot Shot Hamish on Saturday.

Too Old

I would be very happy with Kuyt.

You need some experience in your team and with Helguson going Kuyt would be a good professional that knows the premiership well.

Bit harsh that mate, I don't believe for one minute that Craig came for a last pay day, in fact he could have earned more elsewhere I think.

I disagree.Thought he always put in a shift for liverpool and scored a few important goals.

Defo worth having.

Who do people REALLY expect us to sign ffs?

And dont reply with his goal/game ratio because he created loads purely on hard work and running himself into the ground every game

I would love to see Kuyt, a perfect foil for Maynard and Campbell!

Not sure on Sinclair, if the price is decent and he drops wages maybe, he must have played less than 10 games for man city, wasted!

Hell of a pass from Anthony Gerrard for that goal, almost as good as his Penalty.
