I wish we had fans like Dortmund's

Wed Apr 24, 2013 8:54 pm

Imagine if we all go to games with as much passion as the Dortmund fans and we all wear blue, just like the Dortmund fans all wear yellow. Vincent Tan wouldn't have stood a chance!

The premier league needs to take look at the way German football is run as an example of how football should be sold to the fans. No out right ownership of clubs, cheap tickets, safe standing. Jealous isn't the word of how I'm feeling watching it

Agreed. Fans are amazing and we see scenes like this across Europe. English leagues light years behind and I doubt we will ever be like it. It's a cultural thing I suppose

I would love to witness a game in the South Stand, the Yellow Wall gives me chills.

I love the German leagues. The 2nd division's fans are even better. Teams like St. Pauli have some passionate fans.

Envious how close they are but when you have all this money plugged in by advertisers then the PL has no chance. The PL was brought in to dominate football, to the Bundesliga it doesn't bother them that the others can't see their game on TV, they are close to the fans. No team can ever re-inact what they do over here because the passion just isn't there, most fans over here think that their loyalty will be rewarded but it's only once in a blue moon rewarded, Bundesliga fanssupport their teams because they're supposed to

I totally agree, the atmosphere is amazing and the Dortmund players have everything with fans like that! But like you say, it's the way football is out in Germany.

I remember watching footage of Dynamo Dresden fans in one of their games which is simply the ultimate match day experience. Here's the link, and yes, that thing hung up across every wall of the building getting painted with rollers at the beginning IS their giant flag for that particular game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkkMf6Sg9Tg

Imagine the crowds if tickets were a tenner etc and terracing was reintroduced. It's been proved tonight that the stadium was rocking with terracing

I think they should be made to sit in their seats :D

They have retractable seats and only use them for the league, not CL games. ;)

and guess what: never ever an investor could step in and just change a club's colours and crest... every fan can become a member of the club and the members vote for the board. and changes like we had are down to the members to agree on them in a vote...

Members? I thought they were the only German club that were floated on the stock exchange.

yes they are... the club is like a company and is listed on the stock exchange...but the original club, with all the junior teams etc, hold the majority of shares in that company. so the club really controls the business...and every fan can become a member of the club

I totally and utterly agree with the government introducing seating post Hillsborough, but it's a proven fact that the safe standing terracing works. I think seating only dampens the atmosphere in my opinion and had led to poor atmospheres at the new stadium. Alot of people are not by their friends, often seated by people who don't want to sing etc. with terracing you could stand by your mates and similar types of people who enjoy making an atmosphere. I'm not knocking the fans at the ground now but it's become all too friendly and happy clappy. Something needs to be done in regards to having a 'standing' or 'kop' like section. Watching this tonight has shown that modern football doesn't have to be a 'sit down and watch the game' atmosphere

Been watching the Bundesliga for 10 years and its far better than the Prem.

More physical, more competitive, better atmospheres, more passion on a more consistent scale, the DFB actually care for the fans and cooperate with them. The FA only care about Sky and TV deals which is why I laugh at fans who say we sold out, yeah, every club sold its soul the day it decided to work with Murdoch and the other corporate knobs. The FA only care about lining their pockets and the SF (supporters fed) are trying everything they can to help the fans but unfortunately for them they are fighting a lost cause. The vicious circle has been in full flow ever since the inception of the Premier League.

People can tell me all they like the Premier League is better but I know the truth, i've seen it with my own eyes. Maybe a different style of football appeals to me but i much prefer the Bundesliga. Of course next year as I support Cardiff City I will be watching Premier League games but I wont give a crap for neutral games of other clubs. I'll only watch them if im bored whereas Bundesliga games Ill go out of my way to watch. :ayatollah:

Again I agree. Like most I was devastated with what happened at Hillsborough, but for me it wasn't terracing that was the problem. Of course it was the sheer number of people allowed in, but it was the fences that proved the killer IMO. The culmination of the hooligan era gave us fences, without them fans would have been able to spill on to the pitch.

With lessons learned in terms of ticketing and policing, plus way fans generally behave today, I can't see why terracing can't be brought back

Thanks for posting the yellow wall. That is the most impressive image I have ever seen inside a football stadium. To actually be there in the stadium witnessing it would be something else!

Been there and it really was awesome, no pictures or Tv will do it justice, but f**k me, it is an accident waiting to happen, I can't see health and safety and our PC gang ever granting us an area like that. :old:

Seating and standing wasn't anything to do with Hillsborough, it was piss poor management, crowd flow control and lies.

If you try and put 8000 sheep in an area that only fits 6000 and then thousands get crushed up against the railings due the volumetric area being overflowed should we suggest seating the sheep as well? No, we suggest checks are carried out to gauge the capacity and then the actual number of sheep to fit that area is below the estimated figure for safety reasons.

When people go to gigs and a venue is only allowed to hold so many standing people should we sit them all down too? No, its got sod all to do with standing and seating.

The police, possibly the government, used that as an excuse and a scapegoat to cover their own tracks. Again, people just like to shift responsibility as always rather than use ******** common sense. The police didn't use common sense and people died because of it.
