Cardiff City Forum

A forum for all things Cardiff City

Time to clean up.

Mon Apr 22, 2013 10:32 am

This board. It used to be by far the best Football message board let alone jus a Cardiff one. But with multiple users and various agendas being constantly forced down people's throats on here its have a negative affect.

Just My opinion but I feel if your a member of the forum then you must declare all your information. Like correct name (not usernames) and locations in your profile.

There are not many that actually do provide the information on their respected profiles, but surely if you had to register and mandatory information had to be given then there would be less idiots on the board.

I completely agree Mr "aj1927" from "musselburgh".

It is a good board, that's why I post on here. Never hid the fact that I'm a Swansea fan, and depending what access the mods on here have, if they can check my e-mail address then my name is on there, maybe these are reasons that I'm tolerated on here.

In my experience posting on messageboards, now that you have reached the Premier League, you will have a lot more visitors from other teams coming on here, that'll be something to look out for, although most of them who do seem decent enough.

Surveys and questions from other teams forums/fanzines are quite regular in the first season as well.

It's an Internet forum, why the necessity of having to tell people everything about you? What nonsense.

Re: Time to clean up.

I totally agree with you AJ, anonymity is a powerful tool for trolls, if I had my way we would all have to login via Facebook, don't get me wrong I wouldn't want all users to have access to other people's personal info, but I select view with that access and the board would be a genuinely better place.

Posters such as yourself are welcomed with open arms, you spot on too, this board is about to get busier, we need to have a firmer grip on board security.

Well it's a good job that you don't make the choice then, isn't it. Or you'd be denying the board of the possibility of lots of great members.

Missed the facebook & twitter thing   how about fan number or seat number, the later may introduce a little more civility in the posts.

Not everyone has STs either. It's a very elitist way of looking at it. What about the fans who can only afford to go once every so often, or the ones that live away and post here to feel "part of it" still.

I've never heard of an Internet forum demanding to know every personal detail about each member.

Re: Time to clean up.

I'll be honest as well. This board has a massive problem with double standards. It will allow donkeys like swansealad69 continue to post their drivel at the detriment to the forum, freely admitting that they are looking for bites, yet that RedBird guy was banned immediately.

Chuckles your clearly missing what I'm getting at, I'm not saying every little detail but I am saying more control is needed. The only way to control it is by altering the current set up. I didn't mention FB or ST but many forums do use access via FB.

Banning people for posting opinions? That would be ridiculous.

The fact that you seem intent on banning me, but know you can't (as I haven't done anything to warrant it) must be awful.

Though I'd look at other posters first.

You avoided my point though. Why are some Jacks allowed to fish for bites etc & some get banned immediately? Is it because of hits?

The debate must be QUALITY of posts vs QUANTITY of posts.

I'm not missing it at all. Maybe sign up should be verified by admins before use, or posts should be vetted for the first 30 posts of a new user to ensure they aren't WUMs - that's how other forums get through that problem.

I agree and have suggested this before.

Ok some people don't have Facebook, but it's very few.
But it would sort out fake posters ruining the board like paxman.

Hits on this messageboard are not relevant to me, I obviously take pleasure as a long time member of the board going from strength to strength but as far as hits go that's my only interest.

Your right though, I can't ban you as you are a genuine cardiff city fan who has proven that fact by introducing yourself to Annis on a match day.

Swansealad is a Swansea city fan who comes on this board posting a rivals view on our Club, as it says on the forum header, all fans are welcome to debate Cardiff City, that's the board mandate and its above me to change it (not that I want too).

I put you and swansealad in exactly the same category of poster 'someone who far prefer to draw on the negatives than enjoy the positives' but at least SL is a Jack!

Barry, I sniffed you out when you started posting on this board and banned you very early on, a ban that was overturned by Annis, so it's no secret I'd love to see the back of you, but I'm not under any illusion though that my personal opinions matter enough to change board policy.

With regards to Redbird, he was banned for being an obvious troll account, those account will continue to be banned without needing to justify the decision to the likes of you.

Sniffed me out? What utter nonsense. So are you saying to me that you want to ban anyone who isn't positive about CCFC? What utter rubbish.

For me, there are NO positives to this wretched rebrand & I am quite within my right to post those opinions, no matter how much you may disagree with them.

Check out the threads started by Swansealad where ha has admitted that he is a troll and is looking for bites etc. so the double standards are there clearly to see.

As far as the board goes in terms of entertainment, info, freeddom of speech...this is one of the best out there. As far as trolls goes (everyone's nemesis) it's one of the worst.

I think letting the multi accounts users kill off anything good on this forum for the sake if increase website hits needs to stop and be tightly regulated like mentioned above. We are going to be an even busier forum now without these people. I'm not talking about your moaners, that's just their character and there isn't anything wrong with that. Some however will come on time and time again with the intention of dragging threads down to the depths of dispare.

Simple, forcing a person to create only one account will create an accountability for the things they do and also enable mods to police the site a lot better. Get it done! :D

Where have I said I want to ban people who's opinions are different to mine? I'm not entirely sure you know my opinions on the rebrand as I haven't mentioned it in every other thread I post!

The reason I banned you previously is down to your ability to twist a thread into topics you want to discuss aka the rebrand and/or trolls rights

I had put them forward before. They will, require more mods/more work for the mods, but it would increase the level of posting on here.

First 30 or so posts of every user must be vetted before they are posted. They will "await moderation" until they are "okay"d by a moderator.

All users must have accounts that are manually confirmed by moderators, eliminates the chance of any WUMs flooding the board with crap.

People that are known for WUM behaviour have their accounts limited (not able to start a new topic etc) which can be decided by moderating team.

These are just a few suggestions that are tried on a board with I am a moderator of & they do work.

I agree with the OP about cleaning up the board.

As for Sir Chuckles I wouldn't ban him for his negativity, even though it proves he must lead a very sad existence.

But there is a case for his constant derailing of threads, usually harping on about the rebrand, and also his constant stating of the fact that he's entitled to his opinion. We know that Chucks, you keep ramming it down our throats so there's no need to keep spouting it.

But of course, this is only my opinion.
