Would be a shame to undo all the good work done so far on a risk, which isn't really necessary.

If you read, I say I hope we don't see him back. With this type of injury, it would be a senseless risk to rush him back - but I totally trust the medical team - would be a big surprise considering the relatively short recovery time.
At the end of the day, this is only Carl's opinion - not the opinion of club/Malky.

Carl, don't even bother engaging with this complete pessimist.
If Chuckle had a pint 9 tenths full he would call it 1 tenth empty.
The saddest person on this board without a doubt.

carlccfc wrote:I got some good news regarding Nicky Maynard and his possible return to the side, Nicky took part in training today down the Vale and joined 9 other first team players in a game of head tennis, Maynard was guarding the front of the net and was not taking it easy in the slightest, he was scissor kicking the ball, kneeing it, even bicycle kicking it over the net, if you were not aware that he had suffered the knee injury you would never have guessed that the player was returning from injury.
After the head tennis game, he took part in a game of dodgeball and throughout he was throwing himself out of the way and landing with impact on the ground, movement from all directions, twisting and turning throughout the game.
The plan is to introduce Maynard back on to the field during a development game and providing everything goes as is expected then he will make a return to the first team before the season ends. I have always believed he would return before the season ends and judging on what was witnessed today then I am even more convinced that he will.
Matt Connolly and Fraizer Campbell have been doing work in the pool and will be assessed ahead of Saturday's game but it is my opinion that Saturday will be a little too soon for the pair of them.
Kevin McNaughton, who trained with the squad today is fit for Saturday.
Malky is hopeful that Chris Hughton will allow Leon Barnett to extend his loan spell with us, his current loan expires after the game on Saturday and hopefully he will stay longer even if it means he will be on a 24 hour recall from Saturday.
