We have been top for 19 weeks, since November 24th 2012, we have not been in the top flight since 1961/62 season. Malky Mackay is just about to complete only his second season as manager of our great club and he delivered a Carling Cup Final appearance, secured a play-off place and has kept our team top of the division for nearly 5 months in a notoriously difficult league.
I understand and feel the disappointment at a late leveller like last night, I empathise with some of the criticism of team selection and substitutions, I believe that Malky is a studious manager, a manager who will err on the side of caution, a manager who sets up not to lose as opposed to going all out for the win but regardless of faults he has already overachieved last season and is destined to deliver on the goal of automatic promotion in only his second season.
Why oh why are there calls for the manager to be replaced EVEN if we get promoted automatically is beyond belief in my opinion. When clubs have got promoted to the Premier League, I find it disgusting when they sack their managers who took them there, during the first season, especially when those clubs are doing ok in the Premier League, shows a lack of class, I pray we don't become one of those clubs.
But for some of our fans want him gone before the start of next season is truly shocking, I have written previously that is very little loyalty in football but I thought that was between the walls of the day to day running of clubs, I didn't expect it to come from the stands when a manager is delivering on our hopes and dreams.
Yes the football at times this season has not been brilliant, of course I would love to be the entertainers but Malky is doing what he believes will work to get us out of the division and who can argue against what he has done so far. To even think of not allowing him the opportunity to manage us in the Premier League, let alone say it, is absolutely mind blowing for me.
Sir Alex Ferguson took three and half years to deliver his first bit of success, at the giant Man Utd and nearly five years for his first title there, yet after just three years in the job there was a banner held up at Old Trafford which read "Three years of excuses and it's still crap ... ta-ra Fergie."
Do the Utd supporters still wish that Fergie was sacked back in 1989, I don't think so.
I am not saying Malky Mackay will go on to greatness or achieve anywhere near the level of success that Fergie has achieved but within the walls of the CCS he will have achieved something great for our club when he leads this team into the Premier League this season. It is what we all hoped and wished for at the start of this season and for every season since we got promoted to this division in 2003.
At the start of the season if we were offered this position of a 6 and 9 point lead over 2nd and 3rd place with 5 games to go, don't tell me any of us would have turned it down, no matter what the football or the results were like along the way, we would have simply not believed we could possibly have been in such good shape.
Have people forgotten what Malky Mackay had when he took over less than two years ago, I have not and despite any criticisms I may have of his tactics it still does not warrant any suggestion that he does not deserve the chance to further his management with us.
The negativity from some is astounding and I really think those who feel that way should just think back to the past few years when we had the big names but the lack of effort from our players and maybe even the staff at the time, there even seemed to be a lack of respect from the players and manager to even acknowledge us as fans despite where we had travelled to support them.
Let's how some class and give respect to the manager who is about to deliver the prize that we all want and have yearned for for so many years.

I just think he knows this style is what is required in the Championship and is proven to work by the likes of QPR. Its not pretty but its effective. You need a certain type of player and team in the Championship.

Campbell was a very good purchase but as well as he has done I think we would be up by now if he was playing alongside a proper target man. HH is too slow and Rudy lacks quality. It's been a weakness all season and we are still top but I'm convinced if we had a striker in the mould of Kazeem Richards ( big strong and mobile) for example we would have it sewn up by now.

Blackburn were shit. Put him in our team and he would make a big difference. I've seen him play against us before and seen him on tv and he's a handful. Anyway I said someone in his mould...picky.
