Minutes silence or applause tonight?

Tue Apr 09, 2013 12:32 pm

With Cardiff and Barnsley both having Thousands of fans from Mining communities, I was wondering what would be more suitable to celebrate the passing of Margaret Thatcher. A minutes silence or a minutes applause with lot's of chanting?
♫ Ding Dong...♫

How about a bit of respect she was a mother at the end of the day

Anyone celebrating the death of Thatcher says a lot more about them than it does Thatcher.

Respect has to be given and earned. Very easy to see why very few are giving her any.

I'm from a Mining family/Community. I'll never forget what that Woman did to us, never. She can burn in Hell.

Don't like her never have. Mind you i don't like many politicians. It ain't a footballing matter so should not have applause or silence. In either celebrating or remembering her. But i have said before when Scargill goes as well it should bring closure to the Miners of the UK.

Neither would be appropriate in my honest opinion,, & neither would any show of disrespect to a dead person either.

Lets not forget the fact that we are both two working class football clubs!

She had no feelings for the Communities and Families she destroyed I remember that people committed suicide due to the depression and despondency created during the miners strike did SHE shed any tears?

She left a legacy of deprivation and dependency that is still with us today so I have no remorse whatsoever at her passing. :old:

Did she show pleasure at those people's suicides either?

Which is exactly what many posters are suggesting.

"She will be remembered for destructive and divisive policies. Her legacy involves the destruction of communities, the elevation of personal greed over social values and legitimising the exploitation of the weak by the strong,"

Leader of the GMB trade union, Paul Kenny.

Thatcher will split opinions like no other but a minute silence at a football match is inapproprite and will do more harm than good

Why would she? She wasn't known to them? I'm being totally honest here, if some complete stranger that I didn't know committed Suicide - would it affect me that much? Not really.

Those who are celebrating her death are making themselves bad, not Thatcher.

People on the Right never seem to understand just how galling it is for decent British working people to be referred to as “the enemy within” by their own Prime Minister. The Iron Lady cared NOTHING for the working class.
