I'll hold my hands up, I gived up after the first few games and some shocking performances but the boys done well these last two games. We say it every tournament but I think we got a great chance for Euro 2016, even without the extra 8 places in the tournament. Well done Wales.

Played really well tonight and unlucky to lose. Just silly mistakes from Myhill, Gunter and Williams cost us. Bale should have scored aswell. But overall very good game and to me the better side. That Jonathan Williams man of the match for me

No doubt Coleman has turned things round for us. We are now getting back to the level we were playing under Gary Speed, our passing game has improved massively, we just run out of steam tonight. The trouble we will always have is strength in depth against the likes of Croatia, if we had Rambo, Colllison, Vaughan etc available we may well have won it, but we still came close to getting 3 points against a top ten side. Excellent effort Wales!

Well Done
Why.

Only positive thing from tonight was Jo-iniesta Williams.

Because we are a tiny nation seeded 6th in our group of 6 with £25 million worth of talent unavailable from central midfield and nearly beat a team ranked 9th in the world unbeaten since Spain a year ago.
Tue Mar 26, 2013 10:10 pm
Wales should take a lot of positives from that game, showed a lot of heart anmd character, much more than England did in Montenegro
Tue Mar 26, 2013 10:11 pm
Great performance, it's good to see we're improving.
Very impressed with Jonny Williams.

We gonna dispute on every welsh thread tonight.
Wales are not the only side to run Croatia close during this Run. Which says more about them than it does about us.
Lets not delude ourselves into thinking we are better than we are.

That last sentence is more your issue I think. You seem to feel we should be beating team in the top 10 where as the rest of us realise we are ranked in the 60's and 70's for a reason. We are a tiny nation.
We have to call up Reading, Hull and Crystal Palace players. Our strength in depth is shocking and currently are punching above our weight with a good chance of finishing 3rd in the group we were seeded 6th in.

I agree

Never really going to get results without a striker, even though we are playing well we haven't got a proper decent striker.
Tue Mar 26, 2013 10:39 pm
Wales 0-2 Belguim
Serbia 6-1 Wales
Wales 2-1 Scotland
Croatia 2-0 Wales
Scotland 1-2 Wales
Wales 1-2 Croatia
There was and is a reason why were 6th seeded.
The fact that we beat scotland just highlights which direction they are heading in.
We have good individuals capable of winning matches, but we do not have a squad that is capable of sustaining that.
At the moment anyway.

100% correct. Its what we are really lacking at the moment and we're suffering cause of it.

But we were seeded prior to Colemans results.
We are yet to lose to a nation seeded lower than us. We have beaten Scotland home and away, a team we got thumped to under speed and didnt disgrace ourselves against Croatia home or away and Belgium who have the most expensively assembled international side on the planet.
I think you may be basing your opinions on one result which everyone agreed was poor.
Tue Mar 26, 2013 10:51 pm
No I am basing my opinion on not accepting another defeat as a good result.
This thread is called "Well Done Wales"
Not Unlucky or Almost, Well Done.
Yeah Belguim are a good side
Yeah Croatia are a good side
Yeah Serbia are an average/good side
Yeah Scotland are poor.
So what are we?

We are a poor international side playing better than our seeding suggests. Hence why it's well done Wales. Nobody is saying its a good result, a defeat is a defeat. It was a good performance which is encouraging given the pool of players we have, our almost complete lack of national league and tiny size of nation.

Bollox our players have grown up in the prem era and majority of our players play in premier or championship.
To make out that we have a side full of LOW players because we are a tiny nation is absurd.

Good effort by Wales and was proud but can't say well done when they took the game to Croatia and should have won it and had the chance to put it to bed.

I didnt say anything of the sort.
Our nation lacks any real national league so it's harder for our young boys to develop as kids as they don't live in an area where they can be picked up by the likes of Chelsea, Man United etc. For years, any decent welsh boys are picked up by Cardiff or Swansea where the coaching isn't up to standard of the likes of the top English clubs. There's no coincidence that there aren't that many welsh players playing in the premier league.

Yep it bears no relevance to what you claimed I said.
I explained it perfectly in the post above.
The fact we have no real national league means its harder for young kids living in Wales to develop as we only have to real professional clubs in the whole country to pick up our young kids, and when they do, the fact that for years Cardiff and Swansea have been lower league teams means they weren't subjected to the standard of coaching our English counterparts for example can offer.
The fact we have no real national league has a massive impact on the development of our nations youth.

Forget it. You clearly have blinkers on to think our players have no platform to play on.
Giggs Bale Ramsey Rush Saunders Tosh Hughes etc etc...
The league game in Wales is Amature.
The proffesional clubs play in the English league. The most prosperous league on the planet.
If you want to pursue a career in proffesional football like hundreds of thousands others then its not to difficult to find the right avenues if you have the talent.

I didnt say they have no platform to play on, the lack of national league means its far harder to get the platform to play on.
If a 9 year old kid who has talent wants premier league coaching he and his family mist uproot and move to another country. Wells before .swansea got promotion that is,
I'm not sure what you are finding hard to grasp about the lack of national league hindering the development of our youth.
Tue Mar 26, 2013 11:42 pm
No just if a player 9yr old that is has the ability at that tender age then why would he want to play in an amateur league?
LOW for as long as I can remember has been a semi pro Lge.
Scores of scouts travel the lengthy and breadth of the uk and beyond snapping up young talent.
You make it sound like we have been completely starves of talent.
This is not the case.

They don't have to play in an amateur league. Most of them go to Swansea or Cardiff who prior to the last 2 seasons did not have premier league standard coaching to offer them.
You really are flogging a dead donkey here, it's clear for all that it's far harder for a young welsh lad to recieve the standard of coaching an English lad for example would have given the fact they have over 100 professional clubs.
