Kills me to say this...

Wed Mar 20, 2013 3:33 pm

But after thinking about it for months, I decided yesterday that i'm not going to renew my season ticket next season.

I've only been going since 1998, and had a season ticket since i could afford one for about a quarter of that time, so not as long as alot of people on here, but going down to watch the City has been the City has been the thing i look forward to most every week since my first game in Division 3 against Barnet.

Not any more though.

Ever since the rebrand, all the passion I had for the club has gradually been disappearing and I don't think it's something the 'buzz' of the Premier League is going to cure next season either (if we get there, touch wood).

People can mock, take the piss, laugh, ridicule, whatever they want to do and i'm not gonna bite back, but believe me i'm not doing this because i want to, it's the last thing i want. I'd much rather be in the shoes of the people that have accepted it than mine, trust me.

I'm sure, given the choice, 99% of Cardiff fans would prefer to be blue, but if any reluctant reds can give me some last minute genuine advice on how to ignore the rebrand and still have the same passion for the club then i'm all ears?

Also, to the first person that says "you'll be easily replaced", i know that too. I'm not doing this because i think that one person leaving is going to hit Tan so hard that he will have a re-think. It's clear that's not going to happen.

I honestly believe this club is in the process of being ripped apart, and that what we've seen so far is just the beginning of it, but that's been enough for me, never mind the rest.

I would love to stick around for just one more year and see us hopefully beating the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and most importantly Swansea next season in the Premier League, something i've been waiting for since I started going, but if i did that then i'd be as much of a "sell-out" or "plastic" (as people are often called on here) as anyone. Plus it wouldn't feel the same playing in red anyway.

Like i said earlier, if any relucant red can offer me some last minute advice on how to accept these changes and still feel as passionately about the club as ever (within the next 10 days preferably) then i'm all ears.

Still gonna carry on going until the end of the season too since i've paid for my season ticket, and i still hope we go up. Malky has put together a squad this year which, rebrand aside, has made me more proud than any squad i've seen in my time. And i'm sure we're not gonna bottle it this time. :ayatollah:

Kills me to say this, but... i'll be back if/when we're blue again!

At least you have made up your mind.
Fair play.
For me though, as long as we are Cardiff City and play at the CCS I will keep going.
The atmosphere can and will change, if not the colour. :ayatollah:

Re: Kills me to say this...

I tend to watch most of the game in the concourse this season having a few pints and enjoying the day out with mates
. I occasionally go up to my seat but hate sitting there seeing the red and malaysian flags around the ground , feels much better downstairs and you still sing and hear the chants and get excited without having to look at the red around the ground !
You will be suprised how many people stay down aswell its quite a lot and seems to get more every game , especially when the game is shit or its freezing
It's sadly the only way I can still get my footy fix without feeling down or angry in the main bowl :ayatollah: I will stay there until hopefully the blue returns . :ayatollah:

My advice : get off this forum for your own good and have a think about it without the drivel being written on here day in/ day out. Don't listen to others views about it and just think what would your life be without CCFC

Re: Kills me to say this...

no one really cares (sounds harsh)

Tan won't miss your support, only been doing 12 years myself .. players don't care about the rebrand and the majority of fans don't care enough to do anything about it.

I see the likes of 'FOREVER BLUE' saying how much hes against the rebrand but he will still feed tan with his money and support the club because hes a Cardiff lad.

I think you'll hugely regret not renewing though lad

I know my post is quite long and i don't blame you for not having the patience to read through it all, but i'll just quote one paragraph and add to it slightly.

"Also, to the first person that says "you'll be easily replaced", i know that too. I'm not doing this because i think that one person leaving is going to hit Tan so hard that he will have a re-think. It's clear that's not going to happen."

To explain, i'm not gonna be not renewing because i think "anybody cares" or that it will influence anything at all to do with rebrand. I understand there are 100 red supporters out there for every 1 that is ready to give up.

I'm doing it because i hate what the club has become, and as much as i wish i hadn't, i've lost all passion for coming to the games (Premier League or not). And that's something i never thought i'd say.

Re: Kills me to say this...

Do hear you, but think of that Numpty who went on Sky Sports and said he would never watch us in Red again, it was his life, and the only reason he won't go to a game is because his pride is too strong.

Only saying that as soon as we hit prem league you will be wishing you renewed.

If you were there when we were in div 3 you know you'd of given anything for Prem football

I was there & I certainly wouldn't have given "anything" - certainly not the club's identity and traditions.

Re: Kills me to say this...

Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:08 pm

It's not easy to walk away from something you once had a real passion for. I'm one of those who got a ST refund when the rebrand first happened, and I still find myself coming on here once in a while to have a moan, or sometimes posting angry drunken tweets about VT. Gradually though I've moved on and found other things to do. I'd rather be where I'm at now, than going down the city and not really being "into it" any more.

So in all, I'd say don't renew, and spend the time n money on something else.

Re: Kills me to say this...

Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:17 pm

Sorry to hear that another good City fan gone and another plastic is taking your place. Sad but i live in hope we will one day get our identity back

Re: Kills me to say this...

Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:21 pm

Sympathise and can understand your feelings as I am sure the majority of Cardiff fans would prefer us to remain in blue, but the fact is VT is putting his money in so he'll have the final say on what goes on at the club. But I would say this you have seen City play in the lower leagues, you atleast owe it to yourself to see Cardiff City play some of the big teams in the premier league providing we get there of course. So I suggest you get a season ticket before your seat goes on general sale as if we get there and you have a change of heart you'll be gutted.

Re: Kills me to say this...

But unfortunately the majority of fans wernt there then, and that's why we are where we are my friend

One season and that's it..........

Leave the MB's alone or just concentrate on the football threads.

I know its not about the premier league but you have earned the right, this is your club !!!

It may only be one season in the prem, but if it is all hell will break loose, it would never have been this passive if we were in last seasons position. If you are doing a grand exit left, do it in the championship when it will hurt him. If we survive then its your choice, but on your terms.

I have a few jack friends in work. 1 old school there in the shit days and others who had never been to the liberty (for football) before the playoff games. The old school guy despises the newbie Jacks more than he does me, don't let that happen to you or us. At least we will get only another 1500 not the 4000 they got.

Have you heard a red song ????????????????????? Then it is time to give it up......

25% Blue
74% Don't really care
1% Red

You are talking yourself into leaving , don't.....

Spot on and I agree with this totally. I took a break to come to my own conclusion and now im just getting on with things. Like you said, you will be replaced so you won't be missed Scott, you'll just be spiting yourself. Whilst you understand that what else will you do with your time? I know you love football and could probably keep interest by following (not supporting) other teams but you're Cardiff City through and through.

I took a step back and this is the conclusion I came to

'Football has changed and is no longer the sport we once loved, not even is it identical to the days we were younger and both in school, but without it, I would be bored. I would have no get away from things when I needed it. The Cardiff City Stadium is my church and Cardiff City are my religion. Just because my place of worship has been brought up to modern standards it does not mean I am going to turn my back on my religion. When I thought about it deeply, Cardiff City is not just a colour, it is not just a set of traditions, it is not just a sport, it is not just the fans, it is not just the history, it is not just the days out or the trips away, it is the whole accumulation of these things. Cardiff City is a way of life'.

Owners come and go mate, fans are there forever. My advice will be to stay as i dont believe Tan will be here long after we have got to the Premier league. Soon as a buyer offers him a big profit he will do 1. New owners will go straight back to blue to get the fans back on their side then. Tans in it for the ££££££ not cos he cares about the club

Well thought out. To me the thrill is always in the experience, the passion, the crowd, the occasion. I once had a blue scarf but it wasn't as important as the pre-game beers, the laughs and the banter. But if others see the colour as more important, then that is their deal, I can't deny them that but its not what turns me on.

Re: Kills me to say this...

Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:31 pm

if you can enjoy being part of what Cardiff has become then you should 100% renew your ST, if you cant though.. then it would be a massive waste of money.

Sorry to hear this, hate seeing fans leaving but totally understand, i've only been a season ticket holder since 1999 and despite being very anti red i just wouldn't be able to not have cardiff city in my life :ayatollah:

I can't lie, i do question my passion for the team at times this season. but then we'll go and score in the last minute or even the full time whistle comes, and the passion is there for me... no matter what colour we're in the day we're promoted will be one of my proudest days of my life and no jumped up little malaysian dictator is going to take that away from me

discussed this with annis the other day, if the original (sorry for the word) 1500-4000 fans that used to follow cardiff back in the 80's early 90's walked away they would not be missed, as you would have the new breed of fan waiting to watch premiership football, at any cost. i would say its more like 4/1 but still enough not to be missed

Scott, as one of those who had a refund this season I will tell you now, It's bloody hard going, especially as I still want them to win every game and am delighted by their current position. I've got too much of my life and feelings caught up in the club and virtually all of my friends still go. I just thought that the whole issue was wrong and decided to go with my gut instincts.

I'm not going back as long as they are red, (whatever division they are in) but the self-inflicted pain is sometimes insufferable. :sad7:

Anyone doing it for effect is wasting their time because the effect is zero on the club and Cardiff City as a premier league club will find scores of replacements for your seat. You say you've thought long and hard, my advice would be to think longer and harder because once you've done it you'll still spend copious amounts of your time thinking about it.
