Filming begins in two weeks and the film will not only focus on Leon's well documented life but will also show him getting fit in order to have one last crack at the Football League this summer where a number of clubs have expressed an interest in taking him on trial.

He signed for Taffs Well in January after leaving Carmarthen played a handful of games but was clearly unfit and cut a sad shadow.

His last appearance came against West End as a substitute a few weeks ago, I know Taffs Well had high hopes for him as he played for the Corries under Lee Bridgeman & Darren Buttle

Leon's problems have been very well documented and he will discuss them in full on camera. It is hoped that his story will be a cautionary lesson to other young footballers and that is certainly a big part of what we are focusing on.

It is also hoped that IF Leon makes a comeback it will help to inspire other addicts who have had their lives ripped apart by an addiction. There are no doubt many people on this forum who have suffered from addiction issues. What would you like the message in society to be? You messed your life up in the past so you're not allowed any more chances or forgiveness? Or that if you are now clean and dedicated and working as hard as possible that there may be light at the end of a very dark tunnel?

The odds are of course stacked against him but if he can get his weight down by pre-season I am very confident he will get signed by a League Two club. Two years ago he did very well on trial at Brighton and Gus Poyet has said he will give him a good reference. All that is standing in his way is his fitness which admittedly needs a lot of work but he is pushing himself so hard he was being physically sick during the sessions last week.

Hi mate, you weren't passing moral judgement just commenting on his chances of success which admittedly are small. The fact is he does already have 3 clubs who are willing to give him a trial if he is fit. There are a number of high profile footballers who still count Leon as one of the best natural talents they have ever seen and clubs lower down the ladder are willing to take a punt. The fact remains, he is unfit, and 32, but he is not a hopeless cause by any means. If he can get down to his playing weight he can still make an impact at League Two. He was playing in the conference for Bath 2 years ago 2.5 stone overweight!

Leon spent last year at Afan Lido in order to get fit, prove he was reliable and show he could play at a decent level. He ended up winning a cup winners cup medal and scored some fantastic goals along the way, including great strikes against Newport County and Swansea City. Now he is working hard to be 100% fit for this summer. It has been a long process and is certainly not something you can address and sort out over night. But we are getting there and everyone connected with this project has been with Leon for the long haul. We all believe in his ability and he is working twice a day to get up to scratch fitness wise.

I couldnt care if he was better than Messi hes had his chances he fucked up. I cant stand these people Marlon King is another one the world owes me a favour because im a professional footballer. You screw up in life you live with the consequences we all have to, what makes professional footballers any different. He screwed up not once but three times with drugs. He didnt feel it was necessary to train for his country an opportunity not all professionals get. Dont forget his drug dealing days and he wants us to feel sorry for him, you cant make it up.

I know about addictions more than you realise , I've watched friends of mine die from drug abuse because they wouldn't accept the help offered , they chose that lifestyle and not only hurt themselves but everybody around them .
People have a choice either take drugs or you don't , you either drink responsibly and socially or you become an alcoholic , you either choose to steal or you work hard for nice things in life .
90% of the friends I grew up with chose to work hard and not take drugs , they now have nice houses and family's with well paid jobs , one of them lost his house at the start of the recession after years of working his ass off provide for his family , where was his second chance ? Nowhere to be seen so he knuckled down again and found a new place to rent for his family by taking on two jobs that he didnt want to do but decided it was the only way forward ! Not by selling drugs or turning to alcohol , that was his choice he chose the hard way and I have a lot of respect for him .
The other 10% chose the easy life on the dole , drinking everyday or taking/selling drugs . They now have pretty much nothing and moan about it , why should they have a second chance when others who have never had a chance at anything have to make there own luck to get ahead in life !
That is not about mr Jeanne but people in general , I hope he beats his addictions and it sounds like he finally is choosing the right path in his life , good luck to him but if he does it he needs to do it for himself and if by doing this video he helps himself and even just one other youngster then its worth it , good luck to him but there is many youngsters working there asses off to get a shot and sacrificing there childhood training for there future who will miss out on a chance for somebody who has had many alleady and didn't take them , is that fair ?

Where and when is this likely to be shown? Played a few games at Welsh league level with Leon and he is incredibly talented. Wish him luck and hope he makes something out of it! As someone who works with people battling addiction I hope this can be an inspiration to others that they can turn their lives around. Good luck with it!

I played with Leon over the last 5 years and he is a talent, you cannot argue with that. Nor can you argue with the fact that he is 3 stone overweight, thick as shit and as another poster has suggested has been seen chewing his gums in a nightclub. what I dont understand is why we should pull out all the strings for this guy hes had his chances and he screwed up over and over again. most people make one mistake and thats it they never get their lives back or are never given a second chance and judged for it.

I don't know Leon but saw him some years ago playing overweight for Barry, and by chance in what someone said was his last game for Taffs Well recently. In between I saw him in his thinned out version against Barry, and he was unrecognisable.
