" FAN POWER HAS WON A SMALL VICTORY "

Mon Mar 04, 2013 6:48 pm

With the announcement that the club name will not change and will always remain Cardiff City FC was superb news last week and this afternoon's official statement that the current badge will remain for next season is in my opinion a small victory for the fans.

Yes the ideal situation is that we return to blue and have our badge back but we all know that whilst Vincent Tan is ploughing money into the club then the red and prominent dragon on the badge will nor change.

Through any fan who has contacted the club, those that go to fans meetings, anyone who writes on the messageboards or sends their point of view into the Echo has got the message through the management team of Cardiff City FC that further re-branding, a name change and the removal of the Bluebird from the badge would be a mistake and a step too far.

At the Wolves and Middlesbrough away games there was a clear sign of Blue and very little red on show, that will have been known to Vincent Tan as well. Don't think that your voice, even on here, goes unheard as we were told by club officials in a meeting a month or so ago, that everything written is seen by Vincent Tan.

Vincent Tan has accepted that and has compromised and is appreciating our viewpoint, I am very happy that the Bluebird remains more than anything, I could go on about how it could be better and so forth but the fact it is not going any further is indeed good news.

The red shirt has been accepted, even if it is reluctantly, by those of us who attend the games, the Bluebird is to remain on badge, there will be a blue kit next season and there will be cash to spend for the manager.

You may focus on the negatives of the initial re-branding but I would rather concern myself with what happens today, had it not been for the red scarf giveaway, then today's statement and last Thursday's may not have happened, maybe just maybe, the red scarf giveaway highlighted to us the fans firstly what could happen if we did not speak out, that in turn has got back to the Vincent Tan via the management of the club.

We are closing in on becoming a Premier League team and what we must do now is put the whole re-branding to the side whilst our team are fighting to achieve our dream.

We have got a compromise what many of us wanted and now let us put our energy into backing the team and our club to the Premier League.

have we really got a compromise though , we still have Tans badge , we still have the red shirt I see no compromise there sorry , I filled in the survey at beginning of season saying the fans would be listened to and it was a complete waste of my time

Darren, Tan wanted to go further with the re-branding and now he will not that is a victory in my eyes.

I don't like the red kit and I hate the badge but the thing that hurt me more than anything last year was when the badge had no Bluebird on it and judging by responses on here and talking to fans, the removal of the Bluebird and/or a name change would turn the majority of the fans.

As I say it is not the ideal scenario but certainly a better one than what may have been and I believe that the red scarf giveaway has proved to be a bigger own goal than I first realised.

I agree with that , I'm relieved the bluebird is staying, I just don't like the way Tan always seems to get his way with what we didn't like in the 1st place as we are seeing this as a "victory" with what we already had and didn't want .

Of course it's a compromise, at the end of the day, Cardiff city afc is tans. He owns the majority of the club. He doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want to do. So if he was going to change the badge again, and remove the bluebird etc but stopped due to fans, then it's a great compromise. What more do you want? You can't bite the hand that feeds you to many times before he smacks you and a lot of our fans have been niblbling a lot at his hand for a while now.

Rumour is gwyn, vince, carl, annis was scoffing large jam scones with the finest malaysian tea money can buy at a meeting with tans spokesman a few days ago and said there would be uproar if the bluebird and name change happened it would be a step to far for some :malky: :ayatollah:

Most of us don't like the red and the badge, But have begrudgingly accepted it.

Keeping the name for me was always the most important.

And keeping the bluebird even though its not the dominate image is also very important.

I'm a lot more happy than I was a few weeks ago as I felt the bluebird was going :ayatollah:

Lost your badge and your colour and your claiming some sort of victory. No offence meant but for f**k sake grow a pair and stand up for the club you love. I really can't believe how easy you have all rolled over and just accepted the changes. Sad times indeed.

Easy for you lot to say without being in the situation.

Less of the "all rolled over" you dull jack tw*t.

Too busy walking around with that chip on ur shoulder
To see how more fortunate you really are.

Us (have it all) Bluebirds have been shafted by nearly
Every Board or owner in our existence. Millions in debt and
Mis sold to a Tan by the deviant Ridsdale after being racked with
Sam hammam debt.

Anyone can spend millions of someone elses money.
Businessmen take it out of CCFC.
SCFC take it from the tax payer.

There is no victory here. Tan has just decided to keep things as they are, and we're expected to be grateful for his generosity? Balls to him, this isn't a compromise.

You may be right but from his point of view if he wanted to get rid of the bluebird or the name now is the ideal time.

He hasn't and I'm very pleased.

Does not make sense this article. We are told there will be no name or crest change BUT promotion to the premier could lead to a new brand.

Think this needs to be elaborated on.

Oh a real victory Carl.

A crap badge, amateurishly made with clip art that nobody wanted.

Will we have a victory parade to celebrate?

ANY CHANCE OF A LITTLE BIT OF BLUE TO BE ON OUR HOME KIT NEXT SEASON CARL INSTEAD OF THE ALL RED MAN U LOOK????????

Re: " FAN POWER HAS WON A SMALL VICTORY "

Tue Mar 05, 2013 1:04 am

No victory here at all, whatever your feelings on colour, the one thing fans are in 100% agreement on is that the badge is an amateurish embarrassment to us....... and that's the one thing they've decided NOT to change? Even if there is a tiny token Bluebird on it, I can't see any positives in this news at all as this shambles of a badge appears on everything :(

What the hell goes on in these board meetings, It must be a case of VT decides something and everyone at CCFC just agrees out of shear fear, as there's no logic or common sense it all.

Mins of meeting

VT: hands up all those who want to keep the badge (and job)

What a load of bs.

What was unacceptable last summer is now acceptable. People have been threatened with more and fear it.

No different to being stabbed then someone saying they will shoot you and you turn around and going 'i'll take being stabbed thanks'.

Its ridiculous and manipulative and very clever from Tan. Some fans will get what they deserve in the end.

The only thing sad is people like you worrying about things that shouldn't really concern them. The Jacks have changed badge over the years, and numerous clubs their change kit colour. Now run away and play with some orange balloons on the fast lane of the M4.

Well now with all the fu..ing negativity on here about the decision to keep the bluebird on our badge for next season and the forseable future ....if tans says to himself what the f..k why do i bother listening to the fans I might aswell do what i want as theres no pleasing the moaning c..ts we couldnt blame him ...also maybe just maybe he has made this decision due to looking at the survey that was done??????? :ayatollah:
