In all fairness Gwyn, I think this is a much more emotional issue than those you state above. I'm pretty sure people would never get as fiery and argumentative about Dave Jones's plus points and bad points as they would about what colour our club plays in.

Re: SPLITTING THE FANS

Wed Feb 20, 2013 10:33 am

As I said in another thread. it isn't the colour of our kit that is dragging the club down, its the inhouse bickering and fighting.

It's never been a case of the rebrand just splitting the fans and that's the only issue Gwyn.

It's more, yesterday more than ever, that our club is being ripped apart in all but it's name AND the fans have been split more than they ever have been before.

I'm guessing you haven't changed how you feel about the situation despite yesterday's shambles then?

The reality is the club is not being dragged down, just us couple of hundred on here and on MMs board bickering with each other  Go in the pubs or ground before games and the talk quickly changes to how the team is doing and will do, like its always been.

Well clearly theres only bickering online because 95% of fans lastnight had a red f*cking scarf on so these message boards have no real valid point in the fan base bickering as you say as the forum represents hardly anyone lastnight would have been reverse otherwise and proves to all more people are loving the rebrand than people hate it

Changed from what mate, Always been a Cardiff fan, this has never been about what suits me or we would be in blue with a local billionaire mad Cardiff fan owning us, but that ain't how it is.

I have made the sacrifice because it's what's best for the club rather than what suits me or what I want.
If anyone has a better option that helps the club rather than suits them personally, then step up. :old:

With all due respect a faceless owner from the other side of the world wouldn't be my first choice, but if we wanted to stay in business he looked likely to be the only choice, didn't see a queue or any alternative investors waiting in the wings.

Listen, i genuinely do understand what you're saying, and when you say "it's what's best for the club rather than what suits me or what i want" then that makes sense to me, and i can understand why you've accepted it.

But yesterday, Gwyn, was just sickening, to me anyway. Can you really sit/stand there season after season supporting the club as it is? Does it really feel like Cardiff City to you anymore in anything other than club name? Because it doesn't to me. And as much as i'd love to say i can just accept it all for the sake of the club, it's not that easy. I can't force myself to accept it if i just don't.

I've been waiting years for us to get promoted to the Premier League just like any other fan, but i want to do it the right way, with it still feeling like it's Cardiff City that are getting promoted and not Malaysia FC. This season it just doesn't feel right and it won't feel right if we go up this way. Do you not feel that way at all?

Re: SPLITTING THE FANS

We may as well except the Cardiff City that we all supported for may years in Blue as the Bluebirds died in 2011/2012 season, the NEW club we now have Cardiff City in Red with the Dragon was born in 2012/2013 season, we have morphed into a NEW football club with a totally different breed of fan, end of :(

Yep gav people have taken it on as i said lastnight proved this for all to see, no matter what me you or dai down the road say online it means f**k all and will change f**k all to due to the little numbers online if you compare it to the red fanbase lastnight. So what shall we do about it then cry, slit our wrists or moan more online untill you crack up. Im done with all that even if its something i dont like i can not change it nore can anyone reading this, all i can do is watch the team like everyone else and hope one day tan fucks off and we return back to what we should already be, rite now it is what it is at ccfc.

Re: SPLITTING THE FANS

Wed Feb 20, 2013 11:03 am

Most of the fans wearing red probably don't realise all of the ins and outs of the debt. They just go on the weekend or weekday and that's it for them so when the RED OR DEAD BS came out it struck a nerve with them and they thought we'd truly be dead because they hadn't been on the forums knowing the reality of the situation.

Most of them probably see Tan as some sort of God because they don't know about all the ins and outs behind closed doors such as the Langston issue, the 7% interest, etc.

Its easy to assume the casual fans take as much interest as we do.

The reality is barnett if you go off the vision of the red scarfs on 95% of fans inside the ground lastnight that will only be a message for Tan to do whatever he wants even more now, but its his club so he will do what he wants weather we like it or not this is just an online forum and nothing more as its whats inside the ground tan will go off nothing else as much as it hurts us in small numbers online so to speak.

Gav, I think you took my quote out of context. Im saying most of these fans who just go to the stadium and don't speak on here won't know all the ins and outs of the situation with regards to the club. They'll just go with the flow and get whats given to them as long as they can turn up on the weekend, have a drink and a day out with their mates. The rest of the situation doesn't matter to them. So when RED and DEAD was spouted they all thought their day out would be ruined unless they jumped on the bandwagon so it was their only option.

Like I said, not every fan is as interested in the club as we are.

Who's the mugs then, the lads going for a few pints enjoying the day or us dissecting everything the club does and probably gaining a few grey hairs from doing so?

Colour don't worry me either way, it still feels the same because I still sit by and travel with and drink with the same mates as always, we talk about the same things, want the same things, my passions and pain still feel the same, but perhaps i am one of the few hat enjoy part of modern football with great facilities, easy parking, safe environment, ambition and finally a bit of promise and professionalism behind the scenes.

I really don't take any notice of colour, been to Wembley four times and can't remember what colour kit we wore for either game, didn't bother me then and don't remember now. I really never started my love affair with Cardiff because hey played in blue, possibly that's just me, but it far more about other things than colour. :old:

Gwyn

You have accepted the rebranding of the club to date to the extent of the change of home shirt colour and that of course is entirely your perogative to do so, but is there a "trigger point" for yourself when you consider the rebranding to be too much and would publicly disagree with it?

At a recent meeting with the club`s acting CEO you were one of a number of fans that advised him that fans would reluctantly accept a degree of rebranding , but that any further rebranding would cause increasing levels of unrest and discontent among the fanbase.

For you would that be a total dropping of the bluebird and/or reference to it , changing the stadium seating or cladding from blue to red , not playing in blue at all even in away games , dropping Cardiff City to become firstly just Cardiff then the Cardiff Dragons? Or is there no amount of change that would cause you to openly criticise the club on the rebranding issue?
