Cardiff City set to snap-up 18-year-old Malaysian starlet Nazmi Faiz

Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Cardiff’s major investor, will be talking to manager Malky Mackay about Faiz, an 18-year-old highly rated in Malaysia.

Malaysian star Nazmi Faiz
Malaysian teenager Nazmi Faiz, who has been playing in Portugal, could be coming to Cardiff City for a trial spell.

Tan Sri Vincent Tan, Cardiff’s major investor, will be talking to manager Malky Mackay about Faiz, an 18-year-old highly rated in Malaysia.

He has been playing for SC Beira-Mar in Portugal, but has now signed a three-year contract for Malaysian club PKNS.

“We will consider the idea seriously just like we have been doing with other Malaysian players,” says Tan.

“We have been opening up opportunities for them to gain something directly from Cardiff City.

“But, nevertheless, we have to look at this situation carefully before coming to a conclusion because we all know that the rules on work permits in Britain are strict. They are only given to players from nations ranked in the top 70 of the official Fifa rankings.

“There might be a need for Nazmi to play elsewhere in Europe before we can bring him over to Cardiff with a work permit.”

Malaysian international players Safee Sali, right, and Safiq Rahim have both had trial spells with the Bluebirds and Mackay is open to strengthening links between the two countries as part of the 1Malaysia-CardiffCity initiative.

Faiz first shot to prominence when he became the youngest player in the Malaysia Olympic squad for the South East Asia Games.

I suppose we'll get one of these every season whilst Tans in the driving seat now.
More PR :sleepy2: However, cant do no harm and one day they are bound to
turn out a genuine star.

he looks a bit small to be honest but its always worth a look, we got nothing to loose :malky:

Re: malaysian teenager set for cardiff city loan spell

For a start he wouldnt get a work permit fulltime, yes he score a goal in the video but why are we as a club putting money to waste (more loans) bringing such people over for trials when they will never play or make it in this country end of. madness.

It costs bugger all. I doubt the club needs more loans to pay for a flight from Malaysia

If he's got anything about him then great bring him on.

I doubt Malky would let Tan bring anyone in if he wasn't good enough/fit the ethos.

But your going on as if it costs millions and the club will be taking out loans.

Tan probably flies him out here and he probably get digs at vale of glamorgan.....no biggie

This happens at other clubs with foreign owners. Nottingham Forest now have a Kuwaiti goalie on their books.

I don't have a problem with this providing these players are not given special privileges.

Tan brought in the next best things two malaysians supposed stars last season and you know what MM had them training with the 1st team for two days then stuck them with the youth for the rest of there stay because they wasnt good enough. Besides people seem to miss the biggest issue here even if they was good enough by some miracle they wouldnt be allowed to play in this country in 99% of cases.

This guy's supposed to be quite young, we've just got to find a team that'll let us send over players to get their work permits done. Like Man U do.

If he's something special though you can always get around work permits.

It's all about Malaysia ffs

Re: malaysian teenager set for cardiff city loan spell

Mon Feb 11, 2013 5:36 pm

1. So what if he is Malaysian? Good quality players have come from Asia. Kagawa and Honda to name two.
2. So what if he is small? So is Modric and numerous other professionals including Messi.
3. He's been praised before this news by Mourinho and none other than our own, Craig Bellamy.
4. The article says he will ask Malky. That is great news as it shows he's not overuling and still has faith in the manager he chose to make the right decision.

I think its worth the gamble personally.

Yes loans is money vs the club or do you think it appears from thin air for such things to happen. One minute you say it costs nothing only a flight ( which is free  ) i mean what planet you on.

It still costs ffs, the thing is we got NORMAL PEOPLE having to chip in for such things as the young guns on are doorstep but thats all fine because we are taking some malaysian kid on trial which will come to nothing like the last two malaysian stars at a clost to the club. says it f*cking all. Whats brownie got to do with this anyway or is that your lame cheap shot answer for something your struggling for a viable answer for.

Craig,

I have to agree with Ian, Tan is pressurising Malky with these Malaysian players. I spoke to one of our main coaches who coaches over there(not going to say his name),but he was adamant none of the Malaysians are even good enough for even our conference division. Imagine if Malky spoke out or stood up for himself, he would not last 2 mins.

So you think if MM says to Tan no, Tan will sack him????

Im not naive enough to think its not a PR stunt but on the other hand what harm will it do? its a 2 week trial.....Ian's going on like its gonna cost a fortune, lets face it...its pittance at most.

Ok for an example lets say we give five grand to the young guns setup which it would cost for this guy to live here for two weeks flights/digs ect ect which will come to NOTHING due to where hes from and will never be allowed to play over here, i know which i would rather give the money to thats all im saying.

Craig, Yes I do and yes its a total PR stunt once again.
We have 8 coaches over there and they are all on Cardiff City's wage bill.
