A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has broken his silence over his Premier League dream for the Bluebirds, admitting: “Our chances look good.”
But he has issued a warning over complacency as Malky Mackay’s side aim to push on with their promotion charge at Huddersfield today.
Cardiff – controversially rebranded to red on Tan’s wish – sit 10 points clear at the top of the Championship and can take another step towards the Premier League today.
And the wealthy Malaysian has admitted the prospect of bringing top-flight football to the Welsh capital next season is looking good.
Speaking in Malaysia, Tan said: “God willing, we will be in the Premier League next season.
"Our chances look good, but we are not there yet.
“The ball is round, but you never know. Every game is hard fought and unpredictable. We cannot be too confident but the players try their best.”
Tan was speaking at a launch of a sponsors competition in Malaysia that will see winners invited to Cardiff’s clash with Bolton on April 27 – the final home game that could yet see the Bluebirds crown the glory of this season so far.
At the event, he also said he was open to the prospect of Malaysia players arriving at Cardiff on trial, saying he was keen to help football development in his home country alongside QPR’s Malaysian backer Tony Fernandes.
Fernandes – whose QPR side travel to South Wales today to face Cardiff’s rivals Swansea – recently tweeted of a meeting with Tan in Malaysia.
And Tan added: “Both of us would like to contribute to Malaysian football and we are thinking of a way to do so.
“We want to work to get the standard to a higher level and contribute much more later down the road.
“We talk to each other a lot and I am sure we are able to work something out.
“If we are promoted it will be good for Malaysia as we will have two Malaysian-owned teams up there – Queens Park Rangers and us.
“After this fans may get to see a Malaysian derby in the Premier League!"

Both Gerrard and Blake had to go as they were not professional enough just as Chopra etc weren't before them. Our success this year is based upon professionalism, player after player have commented on how close this team is with all the big headed players such as Gerrard having gone

OMG, OMG, he said Malaysian Derby, OMG, I can't handle it, OMG, OMG....
Get over it. We sat back when he changed badges and colours and now we're gonna sulk about a throw away statement at the end of a decent publicity driven piece.
He won't get his wish anyway, if we go up, QPR will come down. He can't have everything his own way.

Bringing Malaysian players over and saying he wants the Malaysian derby next year is quite a crazy few points considering its his first public rumblings since "we will not be playing in red in the coming season and the badge won't be changed" then miraculously the home kit is now red with Malaysia sprawled across it and a beer mat firmly attached to it.

As a few know Tony through F1 not football I communicate with ---- they do talk all the time. TG is a neighbour of Tony too in Sepang region , I don't talk football with Tony as whilst he's a west ham fan himself he's actually clueless .

If Malaysian Derby to them, means debt to equity for us, bring it on!
It'll never be that to us, but if it means millions in Malaysia shouting at a TV screen increasing our profile no problem,
If Tan keeps his word he can call it what he wants back home, but here and to us it will only ever be "the Bluebirds versus the R's"

I'm yet to see a quote from tan regarding this debt to equity. Have you?
It makes no financial sense to do it.

Shows how clueless he is to football traditions; such as club identity and derbies.

He is f*cking clueless regards football , that's a fact .
You just don't like the facts that's your problem .
Why do you think West Ham board sent him away with a flea in his ear ?
Did you know they also packed off TG ? Well they did !
Thank god they did - but I tell you something as a fact if they had tried a rebrand it would have been fully contested shall we say

I think this will resonate with more than a few in the coming seasons.

If the premiership is reached nobody will give a fig for all the new crowd glory watchers will be suffice to fill the seats ( red ) anyway -- it's all over for the real Cardiff fan .

The big worry would be that relegation will likely kill the club, and like it or not relegation is the most likely outcome for all newly promoted teams.
The facts he's handing out 35k a week contracts over 4 years is crazy when prem income isn't guaranteed for any of them.
