A poor league this year

Was just speaking to my dad, who's not a Cardiff supporter, and we both agreed how weak the Championship is this year.

You look how lucky we've been in some games, and some poor performances. Yet those behind us haven't been able to capitalise.

Still, I'm not complaining

The same has been said of the last half dozen Championship seasons that i can recall.

Fact is, we are where we are, in a very competitive Championship that ever there was.

This is correct in my opinion.

18 of the champ teams have been in prem so is it weaker or more competative?

I was thinking the same but is there throwback to this? Is it that, infact its a better league due to the teams below all taking points off eachother and that Cardiff are just kicking arse? You look at the big teams in this division Blackburn, Wolves, Bolton, Birmingham etc all underacheiving, is this due to the league being better or its just a case of they are all as sh*t as eachother??

You could say the same about the premier league. How many of them have been beaten by lower league clubs already this season. They argue that some put out "weaker" teams, but they have massive budgets, and big squads to choose from so there is no excuse. Surely all their players are premier league standard, otherwise why are they in their squads?
If the premier league is so strong where are Man City and Chelski in the champios league? Didn''t both come bottom of their group? Arsenal will probably go out next round, don't know who Man Utd are playing so cannot comment.

I think the championship is just getting tighter and tighter as training techniques and tactics evolve. There are also a lot of games to play so tiredness and pressure builds as the season progresses.

I find this post a little sad and wonder 'why' a Cardiff City fan would want to start it in the beginning?

I see a little "because it's us" syndrome and it disappoints me that SOME people STILL want to find a way of 'knocking' what is being achieved

Cardiff City FC are in the position they are because they are currently the BEST TEAM in The Championship, as well as being the BEST MANAGED and HARDEST WORKING

When we got 'mugged' by Blackpool a couple of short years ago we were told "Oh dear, that was probably your best chance of getting out of this division, as the teams comeing down will strengthen the competition next year"

Then the same was said (Blackburn et al ) for this season

The REALITY is that there is no better time to be promoted than THIS season and you can only do that by beating the teams around you. So far, it's looking PRETTY DAMN FINE from where I'm sitting!!

Top can lose to bottom and no game is a cert banker.
You can be in a relegation dogfight one minute then go on a run and find yourselves in playoff contention.As far a a second teir goes there isn't a comparison with the championship anywhere in the world.
So many premier teams around Europe would struggle in this league. I'm not talking about your Milans Bayerns Barca and co but the likes of Belgium Scotland and several other leagues tops teams would struggle on a weekly basis.

You're only saying that because we are smashing it in a way that we haven't before.


In the last few years QPR, Reading, Newcastle etc probably all thought they were in a shitty league because they were destroying it. This year, we are that top team.

I'm sure everyone below us doesn't think it's that weak. Its the same as it ever was, we've just got better.

A lot of premier teams in England will also struggle in the championship, eg: Wolves, Blackburn, Bolton, Birmingham. I do not expect Villa to do very well next year either.

Big difference between competitive and quality.

He's, the league is very competitive - bit it's lacking in quality this year. Hence why we are so far clear!

As I said, there's a big difference between competitive and quality.

Yes, the league is very competitive - doesn't mean it's full of quality teams.

Don't dispute the quality Baz but you have to admit on a weekly basis of non stop running harrasssing ferocity of the championship a team full of flair and not much fight isn't going to be successful week in week out.

I will disagree with you, last season and the season before imo were weaker than this season, I think we have a strong squad and because we are where we are it looks like the division is weak, I beg to differ.

This is a typical jack mantra I'm sure. I wouldn't say it's a weak division. Leicester, Hull, Palace and Middlesbrough have all been extremely competitive. Combined with our superb consistency, where we have been fortunate is where the close-season Promotion favourites of Blackpool, Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn with all their experience i think it's pretty rare that none of those clubs have managed a consistent run of form. That to me is a massive surprise and a huge factor on the championship season so far

Yet the three teams who came down are in the relegation zone when they were all tipped for the top 6. Strange world...

Yep and at least the last couple of seasons there are always dozens of threads pre-season saying how tough this league will be.

Everyone is saying its the easiest we've seen for years, would we be saying his if we were lying in mid table? I don't think so, we're just making it look easy!!!
