Campbell: Wont even get double figures IMO

Fri Jan 18, 2013 1:24 pm

Dont know why and hope Im wrong but there are better strikers out there for the money that was 'supposed' to have been paid or are paying should I say.

For 500k? I think it was a steal

Re: Campbell: Wont even get double figures IMO

Tell me a better striker, realistically, we could have got for around £750,000? A striker with experience at Championship and some at Premiership level?

Cant wait to hear this one.

but its not just the transfer fee is it.

Better strikers out there we could get? Like who?

By the sounds of it we have got Campbell for under £1 million, the price tag is very attractive and indeed a very good deal. The reported wage packet, I'm not too sure about to be honest.

I think Campbell would be a hit in the Premiership to be honest and if we get promotion he could well hit double figures next season IMO.

Vaz Te..? DJ Campbell..? shall I go on..? and anyway are we saying that this is the type of transfer fee the club can only afford now when we are top of the league and in need of strengthening..?

That from someone who is obviously an authority on all things football

Jesus man for a transfer under £1M and his salary included of about the same per year I would suspect, it's great business!

As I say I hope Im wrong but for some reason I don't think I am. Whats wrong with having a different opinion as you on a public forum..?

Not many players do get double players in 4 months, especially coming in January. Personally if he gets about 8 goals and a few assists I'm laughing. What else can you ask for when you pay so little?

For that type of fee? Vaz Te probably wouldn't come to us for a start. As for DJ Campbell, hes a cheating rat and I wouldn't want him here anyway not to mention the fact of his age. Buying him would be ridiculous. We already have an experienced striker in Helguson, we need a Maynard type player who can get in behind the defence. I would rather us not loan..apart from Ramsey loanee''s seem to not put the effort in or are just quite happy to pick up a wage.. Samuel, Bywater, etc. ring a bell?

No we're not but just because we're top doesn't mean we should spend money stupidly and for the sake of it.

The types of players mentioned clubs would just want them off their wage bill hense probably the reason why he only cost 500k as a transfer fee. So in fact your comment about Vaz Te is complete nonsense as you don't actually know that for sure.

Also where have I even mentioned about Loans..?

I didn't say you had mentioned loans. No, the reason Fraizer is cheap is because his contract runs out soon. That is a fact but you didn't know that by saying 'hence probably the reason'. Vaz Te wouldn't come here. At West Ham, has played 7 games, will get a chance and be used in games West Ham use a different approach and would cost well over £1m.

Unbelievable, he hasn't even put the shirt on yet give the lad a chance. Campbell for 650k is a bargain and well worth the risk especially if you consider we paid almost 1m for Major flop Kenny Miller.

Re: Campbell: Wont even get double figures IMO

Vaz Te is getting games for West Ham you complete berk so its not like West Ham are desperate to get him off the wage bill.

As long as he stays fit I think he'll be a handfull in the championship. Have a look at some of his clips on youtube, seems the type of player to be in the right place at the right time. Exactly what we are missing up front at the moment. :ayatollah:

Nothing wrong with it at all..........I just disagree with you.......strongly!

His record at Sunderland is poor I agree but where he has started games he has scored goals. Forwards are made up of 50% confidence and I believe Malky can give him that confiddence to go and bag double figures before the end of the season.

2006–2009 → Manchester United 2 (0)
2006–2007 → Royal Antwerp (loan) 33 (21) Goal every 1.57
2007–2008 → Hull City (loan) 34 (15) Goal every 2.26
2008–2009 → Tottenham Hotspur (loan) 10 (1) ......I'm sure you can work this one out ;)
2009– Sunderland 58 (6) Goal every 9.6 games

Total to date = Goal every 3.1 games but due to his injuries I think this is actually very respectable! My only concern is not the goals he will bring but his ability to keep fit, I would imagine the medical will pick that up.
