we keep the ball more and play more football on the ground when he is in. he has haters but god knows why. watch games when he plays and see how much better we are. remember him being chucked in at blackburn away and they couldnt get the ball of us. he just passes and moves. gunnarson gets stuck in but hes not gonna slice open a team and dominate midfield. whittigham is obviously there for passing ability. its alright blaming gestede for everything but it wasnt.much different without him. we are a top of the league side with good footballers. we shouldnt be playing long balls. other than that im happy with a pint

This just shades your Malky for Man United thread for the most incompetent thread of the season.

Someone got stats up earlier that showed that Cowie was the only player in the team where we've conceded more than we've scored when he played.
A BIG no from me.

Pontypool and Pembroke Alien should be a comedy double

Need a Nolan typed player. Gunnarsson is good for tackling etc don't get me wrong but we need someone to free up the midfield so Whittingham can be more adventerous

That was me, and this is true!
Though I do agree with the OP that we keep the ball better with Cowie in the team. At CM anyway, I'm certainly not a fan of him on the wing!

sorry im wrong cos Mario 'malky tactically inept' polotelli and bluebird since 1948 are always right. i must be wrong if they don't agree. all loved cowie last year but after a poor couple of games he gets slated. he's really good in the middle of the park and i do know what im on about. gunnarson started a lot of games over xmas and we've been battered in midfield everytime im afraid. he's better coming on closing out a game.
Sat Jan 12, 2013 7:32 pm
Cowie dont deserve to start currently
Gunnarsson has been brilliant since he's been back in the side

I've never been a fan of Cowie but I didn't see the point in criticising him last season when h was the best we had.

Hello Don,
Welcome to the board.
You're not the answer and hopefully your dad is beginning to see that as well.

why do only the clueless ones comment on my threads. mega annoying. u don't watch enough games

I don't know why I bother reading some of the posts because some of you can't spell football.everyone has an opinion but if some of you don't rate cowie as a footballer your obviously rugger fans and that's no disrespect to rugby.once cowie has gone who will be the next player you slaughter. Fortunately we have avery strong squad so let's get behind every player.

Hello, Pontypool Bluebird/Don Cowie.
Sorry you feel that way. The only time i'l ever get behind Cowie is if they switch the bench to in front of the Ninian.

He's a squad player and should only come one once the game is sowed up and others need a rest. The fans don't rate him but Malky persists in giving him responsibility.

yes but most of our fans talk crap as u of all people i thought would agree on that. im not saying he's some sort of would beater but trust me we do keep the ball on the floor a lot more when he plays. one of those effective players that no one spots. beat example i can give is Leon britton, nothing special but he is vital to them.

I agree with you, I'd like to see
------Cowie--------Gunnar-----
Conway-----Whitts---------Bellamy
-------------Mason--------------------
That would be my starting midfield and attack for Blackpool. Cowie works much better in a 5 man midfield and it would give a chance to let Whitts get forward
Sun Jan 13, 2013 3:27 pm
I wish we had a team of Don Cowies with zero pace, zero creative edge and zero flair but at least we would keep the ball all game.

Bluebird since 1968 are you sure it's not 1868 your blinkered

More like 1998.
Sun Jan 13, 2013 6:24 pm
its not all about pace and creativity though is it. Hudson doesn't have pace or creativity. and if we're looking at players in the same position, gunnarson doesn't have pace or creativity. we already have different players doing that, i just want someone to keep it ticking over and cowie does that. blackburn 1-4 cardiff. he started up there and kept moving constantly looking for the ball and couldn't get near us
Sun Jan 13, 2013 6:37 pm
It's a big NO from me, we have much better players and have too many negative players as it is.
Sun Jan 13, 2013 10:40 pm
Didn't someone on here have a stat that Cowie took 23 minutes to touch the ball?
If that's his idea of touch and move then we're truly fooked!

Nothing wrong with my post after all

he's played 2 games during this dodgy period and we won both. He's cool on the ball and always chasing and moving. Well done Don

And Cowie scores today

Cowie is a quality asset in the middle simply because of his engine.
Not enough skill for the wing (not his fauly Malky put him there), but in the middle he is a force. Will be in the PL too.
