' RANGERS READY TO QUIT SCOTTISH FOOTBALL '

Wed Jan 09, 2013 7:45 pm

Just been on Sky News.

If The Scottish League goes ahead with its plans below, then if Rangers win the 3rd Division this year, it will all be for nothing, so if that happens, Rangers say there is no point being part of the Scottish league. Lets be honest they have done nothing to help Rangers since they got in financial trouble, just put every obstacle in their way.

They average nearly 48,000 fans in a Scottish 3rd Division with teams smaller than Taffs Well. Bigger crowds than Celtic.

I would love them to be able to join the English 4th Division. :ayatollah:
They nearly bought Bury football club last season.

The Scottish fa have voted to change there league structure from next year (as long as members agree) to two leagues of 12 teams and one of 18 Rangers wont be happy as that means even if they win the league this year they will remain in the bottom division lol .

If this is succesfull financially could the same thing happen in England ?

Would it be better for a team like us if it did ? i know the idea has been banded about before about splitting the premier league but never got past discussion stages .

If it happened now it would put us in division 2 our league would look like this -
cardiff , hull , middleborough , leicester , qpr , wigan , reading , southampton , villa , newcastle , sunderland and fulham .

The top 12 in the prem would go into division 1 including swansea and the rest of the champ teams would be divided into other leagues . Personally i would prefer it to be honest and would pretty much guarantee sell outs most weeks at the ccs .The only problem is you have to play each team 4 times or split the divisions into 3 groups of 8 like scotland will do and have play off situations . If you make the big league then week in week out is a massive fixture its a huge decision for scotland to make will be interesting to see how it works out .
Any thoughts ? i Would be for it tbh

Not an expert on this but would they have to start in the lowest league?

If they bought out a football league club I'm assuming they would Just relocate the club to Glasgow. Similar to the Wimbledon and Mk dons situation ?

mmm will try anything to get into English league system! firstly got to get past ueafa, then football league clubs! besides anything else in there way? why would anyone want to lose there position in pyramid system just to accommodate rangers? yes clubs would see £££££££s signs with their support, but that is a bit like selling out for the money! cannot see clubs doing it even if got that far.
and before anyone mentions us, swans ect in pyramid system never been anywhere else so not same thing!!
:D

I can't see it happening in the same way that Wimbledon & Clydebank's owners were told they could not take clubs to Dublin.

Charles Green is becoming a bigger arse as time goes on. Rangers should be grateful they even have a league to play in. They wouldn't be any worse off if the reconstruction goes through. Personally I think the new plan is a shambles but the governing bodies up here don't give a f**k what the fans think.

Mmm wont question your knowledge but can see major problems with it. Name change ok but club change. If ok every club in world would get on band wagon for sky money!

Looks as if the SFA and the rest of the Scottish clubs really want to put the boot in and finish Rangers off, once and for all. But where can Rangers go? There is no current path into English football for them, or for Celtic, for that matter. Personally, I would not like to see either club play down south. Too much sectarian baggage, both of them. Surely Scottish football realise that they need a strong Rangers in their 'Premier' league?

At present there is no path into pyrimid system ,but can be changed no doubt. As said earlier needs a lot of bargaining and euefa sa so cant see it happening or other clubs could do same

Rangers have got a serious victim mentality going on at the moment. Even though everything that's happened to them is entirely their fault.

The things with these proposals is there's always someone that'll lose out but you can;t halt change just because one team's trophy won't mean anything in a season's time.

Not going to happen, the FA won't allow it. If they let Rangers in they should let them all in and have a British league. If we let one in we will have to let Celtic in, you have to think both teams will make the top half of the Premiership meaning their introduction will be met with a lot of resistance from the current Premier league sides.

Moving an English club across the border? That certainly won't happen and neither should it.

mickey mouse league. same as mls. i would want to quit the league aswell

There are currently 4 leagues in Scotland. Rangers win the league this year and will go into the third tier as it is now. If the league structure changes they will STILL be in the third tier of Scottish football. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM.

If the leagues stay the same Rangers would need three promotions to get back to the top flight.

If the league structure changes Rangers would need three promotions to get back to the top flight

What are they moaning about.

They shouldn't be allowed in any league until they pay back everything.

They're moaning because the new plans for the restructure are diabolical. Scottish League football has been on the decline for a while now, and these plans would more likely completely kill it off rather than help it.

Because they wont be in the top flight pure and simple. They dont deserve to be given any handouts by the football league, they are were they are purely down to them

It wont make it any worse than it already is.

The Scottish game is very undersold though. The English Premiership is exactly the same on a bigger scale. It has a few more entertaining games but last week's West Brom v Fulham was less entertaining than last weeks Aberdeen v dundee united.
