Football Manager 2013

Wed Jan 02, 2013 6:00 pm

Im aware that there are probably threads like this floating around somewhere but i couldnt find any...

Atm im struggling with Cardiff on FM13, im using the tacic , 4-2-2-2 as a false defence tactic with 2 poachers up top!

What are you guys using and where are you in the league? :ayatollah: Any inspired signings to share with the rest of us? :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I'd like to know if it's worth getting? Are there any decent changes from FM12?

Only just got Torquay into the top half of the Championship on FM12 so I don't really want to call it a day on there yet

I would also like to know if the the game is worth getting?

(I have not owned any of the previos ones)

I think its worth getting mate! always nice to have the new updates etc and the lay out has been changed! i didnt play FM12 much so cant really comment on it a lot. But i would recommend it. im also finding it harder than FM12, With cardiff on FM12 i played a 4-1-2-2-1 and i got a lot of success, premier league and champs league, but in FM13 i didnt manage a win in the first 8 games with it and started to struggle

I was 8th in the prem until I accidentally deleted my save.

I had players like Nikica Jelavic and Chris Smalling playing for me too

To get out of the Champ I played 4-5-1 with a short passing style. I had David Fox on loan from Norwich playing DM as a DLP set to Defend, Gunnarson was playing BBM and Whitts was CM-A.

I switched between Velikonja and Maynard based on form, same with the wingers.

Its for knobs who have no clue about real football yet play that game, get promoted by cheating and then think they're the next Mourinho.

Re: Football Manager 2013

I'd say it's definitely worth getting if you enjoyed recent versions of the game. Seems to run a lot quicker than previous versions and the financial details of the game re: transfer/wage budgets seem more realistic which makes it a little harder. I spend far too much time playing it much to my wife's displeasure :ayatollah:

Thats an unfair statement tbf mate. Its the most realistic simulation thats currently available atm, and its always fun trying to get promoted and face the challenges of being a new club in the top division.

It has its issues, but the level of detail in the game is superb. If youre going to say its for knobs, at least bsck it up with facts as to why and not generalise everyone who plays it ;)

Take no notice of this clown mate. He has no idea about real football himself.

Bought it today, always been great games but fm13 is harder more realistic and more attention to detail so I've heard. Starting as cardiff soon so see how I get off

I need some help. Downloaded the editor and mad Cardiff blue again, changed the shirt colours and all that, yet when I play a match we still play in red. Anyone know why?

Re: Football Manager 2013

Thu Jan 03, 2013 4:30 pm

Play a 4-2-3-1 seems to work best.

Poach
Winger Advanced Playmaker Winger
Central Mid, Central Mid
Wing Back Central D Central D Wingback

Control away from home (counter if it's a bigger club)
Attacking at home

and just variate your team instructions based on ability and what you find works for your squad.

I've just started playing this and immediately I have gone on the editor and made Truro extinct so I could create a new Cardiff City in the Blue Square Conference South to take Truro's place. My home kit is blue shirts with white and yellow trim, white shorts and blue socks, my away kit is yellow shirts with blue trim, blue shorts and yellow socks and my third kit is all black with yellow trim. I have also renamed the other Cardiff to FC Malaysia, simply because I am against the rebrand and it will look silly having 2 Cardiff's on my game. This will be an exciting challenge, I don't even have a squad of players yet so I'm signing anyone I can on a free. Also, my stadium is Ninian Park (it's actually available for selection when you do a search on the editor!) and I have listed Leo as one of the clubs legends! :ayatollah:

Why didnt you just change Cardiff back to blue and changed the chairman? :?

You have to save the changes mate. Click file, then save editor data. I think you may have to do this before you start a new game mind.

Because I wanted a challenge moving up the leagues, more fun I think.

I've done almost exactly the same thing. Except I didn't put a third kit in, and didn't rename the other City. Playing at NP as well, just had to untick extinct.
On my squad though, when I was starting the game I ticked 'Add players to playable teams'. They gave me a mixed set of players for Blue Sq South, but I've got a right midfielder who is a decent player for Championship teams  Tearing my league apart
Shame my owners won't let me offer more than £220p/w for vital players :x

Just won my second game 2-1 against Chelmsford and I'm top of the league. I need to edit the attendences mind, having over 18k in the Blue Square South is a little unrealistic!

 While I got around 250 for a 1-0 win against Farnborough. Really would have helped if I made the club professional. No fucker will sign for me and I can't offer more then £240 p/w now. Plus my seats at NP are black, not blue :?
