A Night Club at CCS

Sat Dec 29, 2012 11:54 pm

During my time on this earth Ive been to many sporting grounds around the world and I do like the business idea that many of the sporting grounds Ive been too want to get you in as early as possible and get you out as late as possible so that you spend all your money inside the club rather than elsewhere.

The best place for this kinda thing was 'Shark Park' (an Australian Rugby League Ground), where they had a Chinese restuarant inside the ground and a Night Club so we had a meal before the game, watched the game and in the Night Club later. There is a successful Night Club in the Chelsea Village but I waswondering would this be a good financial move for the club if they had a Night Club inside the ground so that the fans can go to straight after the games..?

Yes and after they've been to the nightclub they should be directed to the ticket office.

Not a bad idea Brownie, could be a good non-football line of revenue.

Why not have a strip club, sure to attract more. Got some nice looking girls in the club shop ;)

someone else will probably claim the idea but Ive always wondered why more football clubs in UK haven't really gone down this avenue before.

At the end of the day a football ground is used for football 23 times per season so they need as much non-football revenue as possible.

well I'd be up for that as that again is a revenue winner for the club.

I just feel sometimes that ideas like these should already be put in place.

Saying that though, the girls down there would all be Malaysian. And a lot of women in Malaysia have Thai blood in them. And we all know about Thai women...

It is surely a win win for the club if they put a nightclub inside the ground.

The problem is image. What happens if someone gets stabbed after a game in Cardiff City's nightclub? Thats the main problem and whilst you may say 'install metal detectors' or have high levels of security that doesn't stop an incident occurring outside. The club will want drunk people away from the area. Even if an incident happens outside the rags will be tying the clubs name to it regardless to sell their papers.

rubbish reasoning tbh especially if there is going to be a budget hotel being located nearby too!!!

Well that will be the reason they haven't done it. Remember all of the concerns with the Sandmartin? No one wants pubs or clubs there. A hotel is a different establishment altogether. Considering you used to be a politician you ain't half thick as shit.

so you resort to abuse now because your reasoning is pants bearing in mind the revenue stream which could be made from it. Do you have evidence that the club has looked into this..?if so please enlighten us. Also as I previously mentioned its been done at other stadiums so maybe they should look at what happens there. Oh and I didn't mention that I used to work in the Chelsea Village many moons ago so I know just how much of a revenue stream it can be for a club. So if you have more or better evidence about this then please let us know.

Not everything is about revenue. The club is trying to distance itself from previous decades of violent events and a nightclub and drunk people will only add fuel to the flame if anything bad were to occur. Do you really think Tan is stupid enough to do that? Its a gamble. Also, factor in the initial investment which is going to come at a cost. How many people would go there? Is it going to be cost effective? Most people stay in town where all the other clubs are and want to get drunk in town near their hotel. If one nightclub is rubbish or not what they expected the move on to the next.

One hotel near a casino and a nightclub is not going to be of interest to many so its a waste of time unless they set up a whole string of them which is NOT going to happen.

As for Chelsea, you are talking about LONDON, not Cardiff. London where everything is happening all the time. Where the population is a multiple of Cardiff's and full of plenty more tourists than Cardiff every day. Tourists who see Stamford Bridge because of its history. Oh right, lets not forget the fact that our stadium has no bloody history for tourists to come and see.

Honestly, go think it through. Its far too much of a gamble in every aspect.

Firstly if the club didn't want drunk people then they wouldn't be serving people alcohol anyway.

Also people do go to canton for a night out so the history of people going out in the area is there and there's no night club in canton so it would be somewhere where people can then go afterwards. However my main point was not for people to be leaving the ground so the likeihood of them taking knives to the game beforehand is very unlikely. But as I've said other clubs do it so there's nothing wrong in asking their advice about it.

The issues of the expense is a valid one but until you know the numbers involved then it's an non issue. However it would be interesting to know if the club have looked into this anyway as much needed revenue like this with it managed properly could be another bonus for the club.

Canton is a mile away from the stadium ffs if people are going to jump in a cab from Canton they are more likely to go to town which is just as close.
Oceana on Swanseas Kingsway (the old Ritzys)is one of the biggest clubs in Wales, and is on its arse because it cannot get the punters over from all the bars in wind street.
The whole bar / pub / club scene is on its knees and your making out its this big pot of gold
In football terms the profits, if any, of a nightclub are f**k all.
Best of all you want people to go to a nightclub at 5pm in the afternoon

All I am saying is that you are talking over 20, 000 people want to go somewhere for a drink after the game with good music for a few hours and because there's nothing at the ground the club lets trade go elsewhere.

Re: A Night Club at CCS

Over 20,000 want to go for a drink and food after the game?

Do they? Most people head off home.. It's a definite minority that stay in in Cardiff after the game these days. Our supporter "type" has changed over the years.

Re: A Night Club at CCS

Serving the lager flavoured water that they do and the price on food and drink no fucker would stay anyway!!!

People are struggling with the whole match day cost as it is there would be hardly any uptake of a 5pm nightclub.

Another loony suggestion fair play

Surely it would be a bit of a cockfest. Can't see too many women or couples wanting to go to a nightclub in Leckwith at 10-11pm when it would probably be full of pissed up football fans who'd have been on the lash all day. Sounds like the clientele would be worse than kiwis or the Wynford
