this year im going to be running the great north run

quick update gents
i have lost 3 stone now
can run 10 miles so i know i can do the gnr

cardiff half marathon in october

You should follow a balanced diet! not starve yourself of vital vitamins and nutrients! I lost 12lb in two weeks - this included a trip to Cosmo down the bay (all you can eat £7) a Family size Pizza from Rocket Joe's and a chicken kebab - those were my treats, the rest of the time I was having Muesli for brekkie, just a nutri-grain bar and an apple or other fruit for dinner, and a decent meal for dinner - Jacket, salad, gammon, pineapple!

Pineapple is great for boosting the metabolism which breaks down food alot quicker! Also increased the amount of water I consume too!

Plenty of sex is good for you releasing calorie burning chemicals into the body which also helps metabolism! ;)

drinking water is good for the muscles keeps them lose
a balanced diet is always good
dont cut out all the carbs you really do need those for energy
have a treat night at least once aweek belive it or not you body needs fat
if you starve yourself you will find that your metabolism will slow right down and
anything you eat your body will turn to fat
the slower you lose the weight you will find in the future it w ont go back on
as quick

How is everyone getting along with this? Tried Kettle Bells last week. Hard work but christ it works all your body. I was nearly spewing after it :lol:

I did the no carbs thing for a week and lost 6lbs. It was easy after the second day and I still had heaps of energy. The interesting thing was that after I started eating carbs again my appetite dropped and I don't crave sugar, bread and coke (cola) any more. I still have a beer gut but I have kept the 6lbs off. I am going to do it once a quarter until my body is a temple.

Over here in Australia we have a zero carb beer called Big Head so you can still get mangled without overloading with carbs.

I just found this thread, im 6"6 and 25 stone, which i carry pretty well, been on a high protein, low fat diet, i lost exactly 1 stone in week 1, i go down gym 5 days a week to. My diet consists of peas, broccoli, fine beans and broad beans with either fresh tuna steak, nice piece of fillet steak on weekends. After training during week i have veg with either scrambled egg or omelette (made with six egg whites and one yolk) i eat a ham/chicken salad during day and a sci-max protein weight loss shake inbetween. If i get hungry as a snack ill eat 1 banana a day or a protein weight loss bar. I do take T5 fat burner pills which do work as they r a very good appetite suppressant and keep ur heart rate and metabolism up ( they contain ephidrine and caffeine) It will be second weigh in on Monday but my trousers r very very loose and people have noticed the weight loss straight away.

Digging this thread out again as I'm on a weight loss mission before i go to Alcudia next month! :lol:

In fact I'm off out for a run now with my favourite App "MapMyRun" ha ha

I find running to the fridge instead of walking for snacks every 30mins is a good workout, also when i have to move off the settie because i have something to do this helps to :ayatollah:

I've been doing this Craig, although not really aiming to do the 5k....using it more as a Interval tool for running :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Loads of good advice Marc if you go through this thread properly!

I made it 2yrs ago I think! Lol and it had A LOT of interest as you can see.....

I'm down to 13st 10lbs from 14st 6lb in 3.5weeks, so another 4/5lbs for a stone, should do that by end of next week ;-)

Good luck mate :ayatollah: :ayatollah: ..I had a medical for work in March and weighed in at 17.3st :shock: :shock: :lol:

After eating a bit better and doing running, Bike, rowing machine I'm now at 14.12st....still a bit to go, but getting there slowly :lol: :lol: ....doesn't help passing Marios Kebab after a session in Canton mind :lol: :ayatollah:

Will have a good read through this thread and pick up some tiips :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I've been using different apps, been out running, hitting the gym and changed my diet over the last 4 weeks or so. I've went from 14st7 to 14. I'm farting like f**k but I'm starting to feel good. Had to lay off the running a but cos I have shin splints but the aim is to lose another stone.

Good luck mate. Increase your water intake, and try spreading meals to just a few healthy snacks a day rather than 3 big meals.

You should also take smaller portions and stop eating as soon as you're full. Smaller portions will help you to not waste good food.

My sister in law lost a huge amount of weight through dieting alone and NO excercise, but I don't think it's good to not do some kind of exercise as well... Although she's started now to tone up a bit.

If you install mapmyrun app i'll add you all to compare sessions :)

Definitely - resistance training will always help to build muscle and with cardio!

Prefer running though - i like to see the sweat pissing out of me! :lol:

My cardio routine is usually a good run, cycle, row then a swim to lap it off in the gym, may not be the best in terms of toning or whatnot, but for cardio and fitness, works wonders. :ayatollah:

3 weeks ago i was 16st 7lbs :o currently 15st 8lbs nearly a stone in 3 weeks been on a high protein diet with very few carbs sweetner no sugar and 1.5 litres of water a day. Want to get down to 14.5 st but i am on holidays in Rhodes next week and the diet goes out of the window :)

I always suffered with my weight through the early stages of my life and when I got to 13 I joined the gym, suppose I did it the hard way as I do weight training 3 times a week but these all include a run home plus I have football twice a week! For me, weight is irrevelant, I dont know my weight and want to! Infact, by weight training, I've probably put on weight! However, Iam currently reasonably happy with my body shape and am much happier in my self and I can also see the huge increase in my fitness! I eat balanced meals all through the week, plenty of chicken, fruit, wheetabix every morning, fresh meals,EG, salmon and anything else low in saturated fats! I also never drink fizzy drinks apart from the Diet ones! However, I must admit, once Friday comes it goes out of the window haha, why not ehh? Something to work for! What I'm saying is, its not all about weight!
