BBM says he wanted to sign a striker but it's nobody's fault

Fri Oct 16, 2026 3:37 pm

BBM responding to a question about not signing a striker in the summer:

"That was our intention in the summer to add to that area of the pitch. It wasn't possible.

There's no blame attached to anyone for that, but it doesn't mean in January we won't be looking to add in that area."

To be honest if Moylan keeps playing like he did against Watford I don't think a striker would be a priority assuming Salech is back at full fitness

I think another winger and a rb are needed more

Perry hasn't got going this season and if Willock and Tanner need to be subbed we don't really have anyone who can make an impact on the wing

We have enough centre backs and centre mids
Ashford is much better in the middle than on the wing

And if Moylan plays up top that would give us Moylan, Salech and Robinson to rotate in attack

Salech will always be a handful for defences. I think Moylan may be easier to set up against, much like when we played Kellyman upfront. Initially he had lots of space and time, once teams caught on he was anonymous in games

Moylan is far technically better than Salech so able to work around defenders....Salech doesn't have that ability he knows where goal us but ball needs to reach him 1st !

I do agree with this. Look at the movement from Moylan to win the first penalty on Tuesday, Salech wouldn't be able to do that as effectively.

That's not a criticism of Salech, they're just different players and I do like the idea of Moylan being an option there if Salech has an off day.

Yes salech as his place but him and moylan are two different types players....personally I think salech is not the best thing for city going on way we play? Moylan gives freedom to other players whilst salech is left to battle 2 or 3 defenders on his own !
I'm thinking of the games where we destroyed opponents but didn't win with moylan not utilised in way he as been past couple games ...if he was I'm convinced we would have scored several more goals than we did. To win games

Moylan did really well against a very poor Watford team so if he plays upfront today it will be a better test and we’ll have a better idea if it’s a position he could play regularly.

Saying that I get the feeling BBM will prefer and think he’s more effective in his normal position.

A bit like Bielik in midfield. I don’t think BBM will play him there.

Obviously this is only if Moylan does prove to be up to the striker role but this is how I'd see the squad if he did

GK
Trott Tyrer Turner

RB
Ng new player in jan

CB
Osho Fish Lawlor Bielik Chambers(although don't think he will be needed here with the other 4 fit)

LB
Bagan Scanlon

CM
Robertson J Colwill Turnbull
Chambers as an option maybe when fit
also I noticed the new kid on bench for Watford game so maybe another option there

Wingers
Willock Tanner Davies new player in jan

CAM
Ashford Rubin

Strikers
Salech Robinson Moylan

If this could work it would mean only needing a RB and winger in the January window
Which will be more sensible than trying to find a prolific striker on the cheap in January

That does not explain "why"it was not possible, very vague to me ,after 4 months we did not get any striker in ,there has to be a reason why ?wages ,transfer fee ,leaving it late,
imo that's a very poor reply to a genuine question which has been asked by lots of fans not just me.

What sort of response do you want? I really don't want the manager airing dirty laundry

Why not ?
it was him bbm or tan was the reason we did not get a striker in what is the biggest secret.

You already know the answer but want BBM to criticise Tan. It's a stupid thing for any manager to do and as soon as they do it they are on borrowed time

Look at the negative reaction Man Utd defender Lisandro Martinez has had this week after publicly criticising their Sporting Director.

That's proof it's never a good idea for a player or manager to publicly criticise the board.

Exactly people think BBM can slate Tan and there'd be no consequences. I guarantee that if BBM started publicly moaning Dalman and Choo would be briefing against him and there'd be articles about unhappy players etc.

He's not daft he knew coming here we had crap ownership. It's better for everyone if he continues to be vague and does his job

Let's hope we get a striker in Jan - Moylan has well of late but we need cover up top .
