BBM: 'We hold Will Fish in the highest regard'

He might not grab the headlines like Dylan Lawlor, but Will Fish is quietly becoming a seriously dependable player for Cardiff City.

The centre-back returned from hernia surgery to step in for Lawlor during Tuesday night's 5-1 demolition of Watford, and Brian Barry-Murphy was full of praise for his performance.

“He was brilliant, I'm very pleased with him.”

“He gave us an aerial presence and dominance that helped us consolidate our position and improve it.”

And the Cardiff boss believes there's even more to come from the 23-year-old, who has already built up plenty of experience despite his age.

“We rate him in the highest regard because of how good he is and how much potential he has to improve for the club as a centre-back.”

He's not always the one grabbing the attention, but Fish has developed significantly over the past couple of years and looks a valuable part of this Cardiff squad.

**A big performance when his team needed him. Will Fish deserves plenty of credit for that.**

He certainly wasn't a fish out of water.

BBM said today that you forget how young he is and that's true.

Osho my favourite CB, followed by Lawlor and Bielik. But without doubt Fish will play a big part this season.

Makes you wonder why he did not start with Lawlor
Fish and Lawlor is by far our best defensive duo

Because he's just come back from injury and he didn't think he could get through 90 minutes, as BBM said after the game. Besides, Osho is rightly ahead of him because of his passing and carrying abilities.

100%. Osho doesn't deserve to be dropped, he's in a good run of form. Fish needs to fight for his place, which hopefully keeps Osho on his toes and agree, Fish is probably slightly more solid at defending but Osho is a better all round player in my opinion, his passing and reading of the game is better, he's quicker and more athletic but a bit rash sometimes.
He's on a nice run at the moment so can't just drop him. It's good to have the options and I wish Fish all the best also, but until Osho has a terrible game, Osho deserves to start.
