BBM speaks about second penalty incident and booing

Tue Oct 13, 2026 11:55 pm

BBM:

"I'm not sure how the players decided Chris Willock would take the second penalty. I probably should know but I don't know.

I have to hold my hands up, I didn't do much planning on it. Yousef Salech is pretty determined to take all those penalties.

I wasn't fully aware of the booing. But everyone seems very pleased after and I'm sure our supporters will value the performance. Chris was a big part of that so I'm sure they'll all get behind him."

I had the impression booing for them objecting to penalty and their goalkeeper time wasting not aimed at willock

My initial thought was that the booing was disappointment that Moylan wasn't going to be given the chance to get his hat trick rather than against Willock although it didn't help when Willock then missed.

Only those that booed will know why they did so I guess.

Poor excuse by the manager.

As somebody who is rightly praised for meticulous planning and preperation for every game it's a surprising admission to say he didn't do much planning on it.

Luckily it made no difference to the outcome of the game but if it had been 0-0 at the time it could have been an expensive blunder.

Hopefully it's a lesson learnt.

People are in hope he will come out and say moylan should of taken it not willock. Nothing to do with planning at all, they know who's doing what before every game. If he comes out and said..

"Willock took it off his own back and he shouldn't have so I've no idea why". .. that wouldn't happen as hes then hanging him out to dry. Let's be honest bbm would drive around Cardiff to get to Merthyr from Newport rather than straight to the point he dodges most questions with the same answer. He's just protecting his players :bluescarf:

And all credit to him for protecting his players but it shouldn't have got to that position.

It was a gap in preperation that could have cost us in a closer game.

I'm sure he'll learn from that and hopefully it won't happen again.

Earlier in the season we had a penalty and Salech scored with a well taken penalty, so if he is on the pitch the next time get a penalty then he should take it. If he's not on the pitch then Moylan should take it, if they're both not on the pitch then they have to decide before the game who takes the penalty.

I've noticed that Willock dont come and celebrate when another player scores, I might be wrong, that's my take on it.

Moylan should have taken the penalty he's full of confidence and was on a hat trick sort it out BBM !!

When someone is on a hatrick it's a no brainer.

If he's not just protecting the players, I agree with you. A bit strange not to have a designated penalty taker when Salech isn't playing.

One thing, I'm sure Willock won't be near the top of that list considering he missed.

Indeed and as it seems he's never taken a penalty in a Championship game before it was quite a surprise to see him take the penalty last night.

I'm guessing Salech is the penalty taker and Rubin is number 2. It's probably an oversight

Don't people think that the score at time had a bearing on who took penalty? Bbm didn't get involved so down to ng as captain to say who's taking it? At 2-1 cant imagine willock taking it didn't see any complaints or goings on about who took it so assuming all was happy about it... and unless your Harry kane or the like same player doesn't always take 2 pens o game why are people making mountain out of a molehill (4-1 up at time) I've no idea
