Roberston

"Alex [Robertson] had some issues with his shins and a tight Achilles, so he wasn't fit to travel [to Australia]. We don't think he'll train today, but hopefully he'll be able to train tomorrow and be fit for Saturday.

It's a good job we've brought in a replacement for our player of the season Wintle, to cover the position.

Oh, wait a minute!! :banghead:

Like I said on the other threads, by the way BBM was talking I think the only players missing through injury will be Rubin and Chambers. Bielik obviously suspended too.

People have had a meltdown before a game on here before because they assume a player is unavailable and then they play. That's why I've learnt to not react too strongly to injury "doubts" in pre-match press conferences with this manager.

He's currently ripping it up; in the relegation zone of L1.

Why didn't we get relegated with Wintle in the team last season then?

My point is we let go out player of the season and didn't replace him, which is insane.

Robertson has filled the gap for now but if he's out injured, we have no natural cover. I suppose Turnbull will have to slot in.

What if Robertson is fit as he probably will be?

The problem is people look at the quotes without watching the words, then you get more of an idea. That's why I expect him to play.

As for not bringing someone in, I was disappointed we didn't sign another player in that position but also pleased we didn't make a panic signing as the club have done in the past.

There are two facts here. Wintle was voted Player of the Season for us in League One and he is also part of the MK Dons team that aren't doing well. You can't lean into one fact and ignore the other.

Because he was surrounded by Championship quality players. Every time you reply, you are cementing BBM's choice.

Joel C is better than Wintle. Wintle is a L1 player, as his career stats have shown.

Do you want to fill the squad with L1 players, or trust the manager to bring in Moylan, Beilek and co.

This Wintle argument will go on, and every single time I will shut it down. He was shite for us at this level; shite at Milwall on loan and for the 100th time; why didn't a single championship club show interest when he was FREE?

So you're saying all our players are better than Wintle, although Wintle got player of the season?

Wintle went on loan to Blackpool where he got them to 5th in the Championship.

MK Dons are paying big money, so he's probably gone there on a good wage and good luck to him.

You're missing my point about us not bringing in a replacement for Wintle. It's one of several areas we are light, lacking cover and depth, but this is why we're where we are in the table.

Will we ever be able to keep a clean sheet without a good, natural holding midfielder?

BBM said a few weeks ago "there's no point in talking about what we don't have, as soon as I arrived I banned talk of 'what if' or 'if only' in the training ground."

I think he's 100% spot on, but some would prefer to continuously go on about a transfer window that closed over a month ago. Guess they just live for that sort of mindset.

Wintle was great at 6 last year we looked crap whenever he was missing. I wasn't too concerned when we let him go as he's never been great in the championship. That being said we never replaced him Robertson is not as good at playing that position as Wintle... Neither is Joel Colwill, square pegs in round holes. Who cares about MK Dons? No idea what he's being asked to do there or how good the players around him are.
