A forum for all things Cardiff City

The Bluebirds have averaged around 65 per cent possession across their opening eight matches and rank among the division's leading sides for shots, highlighting the threat they carry despite their league position.
"They play with a lot of confidence, they have a lot of the ball," Mowbray continued.
"So don't be too alarmed if you come to the game at the weekend and Cardiff are passing around in midfield and at the back.
"I'm just trying to paint a picture for our fans. They're a decent football team, we have to recognise that."
Mowbray insists Rovers have prepared for what Cardiff will bring and believes the outcome will be decided by quality in the key moments rather than possession statistics.
"Millwall had more possession than us, to be honest, and we beat them 3-1," he said.
"In my mind, it's not about the possession, it's about the quality in the final third, in the penalty areas and making the right runs and having the right quality with the final passes and the finish."
With trips to Bristol City and West Brom to come next week, Mowbray is keen for Rovers to lay down a marker at home.
He added: "It's a tough run of games for us, but let's start that run of games off with three points if we can."

Tony Mowbray has a football brain and uses it to alter & adapt tactics & formations to win football matches on a game by game basis.
BBM doesn't and can't.

Sadly 65% means nothing if you can't put the ball into the net and defend ...

This thread sums up a big issue for me.
I think BBM is an exciting young manager, the best we've had for many years, and possibly a great future ahead of him.
However, the situation he finds himself in currently is....a squad that's not good enough to play to his style...a owner who is not prepared to invest in the squad.
So what will BBM do, I fear unless he's prepared to adapt his style to accommodate what he actually has at his disposal we will struggle.
I would like to see BBM tighten up away from home, we're far to open. We start with 2 wingers !.
We do not want to lose him. If we continue to languish at the wrong end of the table the risk is Tan will just get rid of him, which would be a disaster.

Saturdays game showed basically the problems we have? The most possession but faced a coach who was smarter than him! bbm didn't do anything just kept to his same tactics until 70mins ( lot of coaches would have actively done something during game to counter it) this is a theme of bbms coaching no plan b to counter opponents tactics Especially away..... Saturday called out for changes at halftime to stop Mowbrays tactics but he never did probably 1 shot before last 10mins when yes he changed tactics "personel" ..... we are ok when we are at home as teams try the block but we are generally to good for teams who defend deeply away its other way around and we cannot defend the press hence always concede at some point....bbm needs to realise teams limitations and try something different away and not be as predictable.
