A forum for all things Cardiff City

This squad it is largely the same group of players that went down got Cardiff back up again, but it’s a squad that really struggled at this level previously and the same limitations remain. It’s just not an especially dynamic collection of players and it’s a very different division compared to league one, this squad needs strengthening as I can only see one way for it otherwise and that’s down.

That's exactly how I see it. Although BBM will have to adapt the way we play with a different system away from home at times if we are to stand a chance in my opinion as other manages change to suit so try to nullifie the other team by changing throughout a game but we don't do that at all.
if we don't get a minimum 2 or 3 better players come the next window and keep playing the same way away from home that will be our downfall I think. It's down to backing once again....

Ye and some of them players let us down 2 years ago to,for me I think January will be hard to attract players to especially if we down the bottom players might look at it and go I’m not going there they could go down, which to makes it more baffling to why we didn’t add more in the summer when the feel good factor and everything was around the club, especially when this squad is so short of options doesn’t make sense

I think everyone agreed that we needed a much stronger squad than we had in League 1 just to survive in the Championship but it didn't happen.
That's either because BBM chose not to strengthen the squad despite backing being available from the hierarchy (which the mànager suggests is true)
Or because the club wouldn't (or couldn't) provide the manager with the players he wanted.
We'll probably never know which it was.
I don't agree that BBM is totally blameless but he's got to learn quickly how to cope with the demands of the division and the limitations of his squad.

So you know among the kingpins (playing plenty of games) when we went down were….
Alnwick
Horvath
Rinomohta
Goutas
Chambers
Daland
Odowda
Ralls
El Ghazi
Meite
Mansverk
Alves
Robinson
Willock
NONE of those are in or would be in BBM first choice side now.
Robinson,Willock, O’Dowda i believe once contracts have finished will be gone.
Yes Ng, Bagan, Rubin, Robertson, ashford, Tanner, Salech, played plenty of games between them, but it’s hardly the same team/players.
Mindset completely different today.
Our fan base terribly overrated Ng and Bagan, just like they did Ralls, Rinomohta and Odowda

By the way, we also went down with the worst manager in country history. Riza makes your made Durban look
Like Guardiola

Bbms lack of tactical nous is also a factor! We've lost so many goals because he doesn't change to counter opponents change in tactics....... plus his away tactics leave us open to losing before we start? If people think this is wrong need to look at home form way we play is ten times better because teams set up as an away team should do letting us play our way.....but as soon as away coach works out way we play and changes things we get into problems and we end up generally having to come back after conceding a goal because bbm doesn't immediately counter other team until to late.. and of course some players not upto scratch in championship but bbm still plays them from star.
