Disappointing but not a disaster

Sat Oct 10, 2026 3:57 pm

I'm sure some will focus on us and will say that we're dreadful, our style is rubbish and BBM is the new Riza.

But I'll give credit to Blackburn. They had a gameplan and executed it well. Fair play to them.

We did give away two poor goals but you have to say Blackburn defended their goal well.

The game was probably lost at half time, despite us getting one back early in the second half.

Another great display by Moylan, MOTM for me.

Personally I'm disappointed to lose but don't see it as a disaster, away games in this league are always unpredictable.

Onto Watford on Tuesday and I'm sure we'll bounce back. It's still very early in the season :bluebird:

I rate Mowbray as a coach so today was always going to be hard

I think we are better at home and can see us getting a result at watford

Last time we were in the championship we were bottom after 9 games.

We are 22nd after 9 game with the same amount of wins.

The Irishman is f*cking clueless.

You're f*cking clueless.

Either that or you've just got a very sad mindset that forces you to be this downbeat all the time.

I almost feel sorry for you.

Sorry I am getting very concerned with BBM ability to set the team up right, away from home. We are way too open. A poor pass and we are straight away on the back foot and the home team has a chance. In Division 1 we got away with it, but better players in the championship and we are getting punished. Cannot see the manager staying soon if he cannot adapt to when we play away.

Well after your replies to Annis' thread I looked at your posts. Always one of the first on here when we lose but strangely enough, posted nothing in relation to the game we won last time out.

People call my overly positive and maybe rightly so, and therefore people should also be called out for being overly negative.

I do agree it's the third time this has happened this season it was obvious after about 10 minutes that this wasn't going to be a game we controlled Robertson was overrun and we badly needed Turnbull in there with him to get a grip on the game.

As far as the manager staying come off it he's still done a very good job, doesn't mean he hasn't made mistakes.

That's a fair argument. More fair than calling him clueless, anyway.

I just think Joel Colwill struggled today and it made it so easy for Blackburn to get us.

But I also think it's not all about us, Blackburn executed their gameplan well.

Re: Disappointing but not a disaster

My worry is how open we are away from home , we get ripped to bits on the transition id like to see bielik in the 6 away from home as hes a bit more defensive minded than Robertson and move Robertson into the 8 , at home leave it as it is but away we have to be a bit harder to play through

Re: Disappointing but not a disaster

Sat Oct 10, 2026 5:00 pm

My worry is that we've had a relatively easy start to the season fixture wise and we've only played two of the current top 10.

If we can't win games against those around us how on earth are we going to get anything from games with Boro, West Ham, Wolves etc?

How is it not a disaster?

We have lost yet another game by conceding more soft goals!

People think I'm negative when I complain how we haven't strengthened the team, particularly the holding midfield and defence areas.

Blackburn had the experienced Sam Morsy today. They got him on a free. We could have used his experience and know how.

I think the players are trying their best, some of them just keep making poor decisions and aren't good enough at this level.

Blackburn had the better of the game, created the most chances, had the most shots and deserved to win.

Are we ever going to keep a clean sheet this season?

We can't keep going on like this for sure.

Re: Disappointing but not a disaster

I think the club we are becoming can't be like the club we were, and all said needed to change. We want our academy lads playing, and they are young, and some may not be ready or even at this level, but we only find out by trying. Buying £4 million players means you have to play them, generally over one of the lads.

I didn't think Robertson was anywhere near as good as Wintle as a CDM in L1, but the only way to see if he was a year later was to play him there this season. I don't think it's worked so far, so let's see what BBM does going forward.

Tanner and Willocks' stats are good, but to my eyes, they aren't effective enough at this level. They get a lot of ball compared to most teams because of the attacking nature of our systems but don't do much with it.

We need to be patient and build the club. We only need to find three worse than us this season and lose the underperforming high earners.

Its always better to win

What is the point in going on and on about what we should or shouldn't haven't done in the summer? It's gone.

Losing 2-1 away is not a disaster.

We have a chance for three points on Tuesday. We are not in the bottom three.

Anyone who makes this out to be some sort of crisis are just manufacturing that.

By the way, MK Dons and their super midfielder Wintle lost 5-1 today.

I'm with you on the overreaction but Wintle would do a better job the Robertson and MK Dons losing doesn't change that

Joel Colwill was more at fault than Robertson today.

Shouldn't say that though because it's illegal to criticise the Colwill brothers on here.

Mowbray is a class act at this level; he knows what it's all about. BBM is a development coach trying his hand at leading a medium-sized club for the first time. We have different strategies.

I reckon if Sam Morsay drove down to the Vale, bought BBM a coffee, and offered to play for a grand a week, he still wouldn't have signed him. We are a young-player club; we want to unearth the next big thing and encourage the best to come here.

Its going to be a journey, but we must buckle up for the highs and lows

I want us to win at Watford like us all, and will applaud him . My fears is that the manager needs to change the way he plays away and I am not sure he will. My goal would try not to concede and build from there.

I thought Joel had a dreadful game but Robertson isn't a natural in that role at all that's my problem it's not a bad game it's he's just not that guy. I know you'll say it's done now and we've got to get on with it but you don't think we'd have looked better today with Wintle at 6 and Robertson at 8

No I don't think it would be any better with Wintle at 6. It might even be worse.

BBM knows better than me, better than you, better than every fan. Things will be fine with him in charge.

I simply don't believe that. I think BBM let Wintle go because he thought we'd be getting an upgrade via someone new through the door. I don't buy that he fancied Robertson there all along, it doesn't make sense he'd have done it last year not ask him to learn on the job a level up
