CCFC FITNESS DOUBTS DESPITE A 3 WEEK BREAK

Thu Oct 08, 2026 10:15 am

These 3 week breaks etc do not guarantee a full fit team etc :

Cardiff City have provided a mixed injury update ahead of Saturday, with Yousef Salech and Rubin Colwill both facing fitness doubts.

However, Calum Chambers remains some way from a return. The defender is still out of training and is due to see a specialist as Cardiff continue to assess his injury.

"Calum's not back in training. He's seeing a specialist today and then we'll know more about his injury after that, but he's not close," Barry-Murphy added.

Alex Robertson is another player whose fitness will need to be assessed before Saturday. The midfielder withdrew from the Australia squad because of ongoing shin problems and a tight Achilles.

Yousef Salech is a doubt heading into the Ewood Park fixture, having picked up a shoulder injury during Cardiff's final game before the international break against Charlton, but the striker has already returned to the pitch as he looks to prove his fitness in time for the weekend.

Dylan Lawlor return for a cameo appearance against the Addics in that 3-1 win, while Will Fish is also back after recovering from a hernia operation slightly ahead of schedule.

"He was back on the pitch on Tuesday and we just had to check on him. He hasn't trained with us yet, so he's back on the pitch but we'll see how he is today and then make a decision for Saturday after that."

I think Robertson will probably be ok but worried about Salech. Not too worried about Chambers missing.

Watched the press conference and I'm not worried about Salech, BBM seemed confident he'd be alright by the way he was talking.

He said Lawlor and Fish are good to go which is great news, especially with Bielik suspended for the next two.

Seemed like he thinks Robertson will be fine too. Isaak Davies back as well.

Rubin back in full training next week so shouldn't be long. Not a massive issue to not have him while we have Moylan, but will be great to have him back soon.

Yes a few doubts, a couple of No’s for Blackburn, but hopefully another week and all good

Apparently Chambers may now need an operation

Contract expires in the summer, I'd let him go. We have Lawlor, Osho, Bielik and Fish who would all play ahead of him probably anyway.

Especially as he's on big money.

No doubt about that. Chambers,Turnbull and Robbo all on big money all out of contract in the summer and fringe players at the moment, no way we keep any of them with the way we are currently cost cutting... Even if BBM wanted to

You can probably add NG Bagan too.

Both signed new contracts recently. Ng to 2028 and Bagan to 2030.

Monty,

No club would be daft enough to pay his wages

Yousef Salech – Doubt
Shoulder injury picked up against Charlton. He returned to the training pitch on Tuesday but has not yet trained with the team. A decision will be made after today's assessment.

Dylan Lawlor – FIT
Back from injury and available after making a cameo against Charlton.

Will Fish – FIT
Back after recovering from his hernia operation and has trained throughout the international break.

Calum Chambers – OUT
Still not back in training and is seeing a specialist. Barry-Murphy says he is "not close".

Alex Robertson – DOUBT
Has been struggling with shin splints and a tight Achilles. He will train tomorrow and could be fit for Saturday.

Isaak Davies – FIT
Back in full training today after doing plenty of work during the international break.

Rubin Colwill – OUT
Will miss Saturday's game with his ankle problem. However, he is making "really good progress" and could return to full training next week.

I wouldn't add NG and Bagan - easily two of our best defenders!
