"He was absolutely unbelievable!"

The Irish media and pundits are raving about Jack Moylan after his display against Israel
Ian Ryan was manager of Wexford in 2021 when he convinced Moylan to join on-loan during a frustrating spell at Bohemians.
Ryan speaks in glowing terms about a player who, five years on, is now smashing it with Cardiff City and the Irish national team
“Fitness-wise, I probably had to take him off after 70 or 80 minutes, but by that stage he’d probably have won us the game.
“I think it gave him a bit of confidence, he got a bit of attention and got his move to Shelbourne after that.
“If I’m being honest, footballing-wise he was absolutely unbelievable. But the condition he was in then wasn’t the condition he is in now.
“He went to Shelbourne and full-time football, and he went really hard at it.
“Damien Duff, I’d say, had a massive role in what he did. Damien would have been onto me an awful lot during that off-season.
“He’d be, like, ‘What’s the catch with this fella?’. I’d say, ‘There is none’.
“It’s rare you get the talent and the attitude together, but that’s why he is doing what he is doing.
“Did I see him playing at this level? Probably not where he is now, because that is a serious jump. But I wasn't surprised at what he did at Shels. It’s probably only four or five years since Wexford. That’s a serious climb.”
What a rise for Jack Moylan from the League of Ireland to the Championship with Cardiff and the international stage
