Why beating Denmark matters to Wales' Euro 2028 hopes
Wales players in a huddle ahead of their Nations League clash with Norway

Wales ended a six-game winless run when they beat Norway 2-1 in Cardiff on Thursday

ByChris Wathan

BBC Sport Wales

There has not been much time for Craig Bellamy and Wales to enjoy their Nations League win over Norway.

After taking one Scandinavian scalp, the task is to claim another as Denmark come to Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday (19:45 BST).

Victory would mean recording back-to-back wins over higher-ranked nations for the first time in more than a decade.

It also offers an opportunity to take a huge step towards securing their top-tier Nations League status – and significantly boost their Euro 2028 qualification hopes.

Would be a big result if we can somehow win.

Top two go through to the quarter finals of the Nations League Finals, third goes in a relegation play-off with a team 2nd in League B and bottom is relegated to League B.

This 3-week format doesn't suit the smaller nations that struggle to rotate. Dan James is one step ahead of Issak Davies in the durability stakes,

I'd love to know how many people actually buy/renew their TV license when that reminder comes up during every football match on the BBC, not many I'm guessing

Can someone honestly tell me what Brennan Johnson is supposed to be good at? Stealing a living as a footballer.

HT: Wales 0-0 Denmark

Both teams have had chances to attack, with Denmark having the better of it.

After a decent opening 15minutes, Wales have been second best for the 30 minutes or so. The way we try to play the ball out of defence when we are closely marked, leaves a lot to be desired, and we have been lucky to not concede a goal. The starting eleven selected by Bellamy is extremely puzzling, with Daniel James being omitted for Johnson especially so. Over the last two matches we have had some great crosses, which would have been ideal for Moore. We need to make at least three changes for the 2nd half, otherwise we shall definitely be relegated. I sincerely hope that won’t happen - so come on Bellamy!!
