Cristiano Ronaldo in tears , hurt and sad:

Thu Oct 01, 2026 4:18 pm

Cristiano Ronaldo in tears and deeply disappointed with how Portugal and Jorge Jesus have treated him after everything he has given to his country.

“I feel hurt by what Jorge Jesus said in the interview. Honestly, I never expected those words from him. He made me feel like I was no longer important to Portugal, and that hurts even more when you remember everything I have done for this national team.

Argentina never treated Messi this way. I only wanted to return to Portugal with honor, dignity and respect. I never wanted my return to become a situation filled with chaos and controversy.

Maybe the best thing I can do now is step away and retire, so I am no longer the problem they say I am. I gave everything for Portugal, and I wanted to leave with my head held high.

There are also some players who have been involved in what is happening. I know who they are, and I know what has been said behind the scenes.

But I will not speak about that now.

When the right time comes, I will tell the truth.

For now, I am just sad. After everything I have sacrificed for Portugal, I never imagined my final chapter with the national team would feel like this.”

Cristiano Ronaldo: “If Portugal no longer want to rely on me, I can leave from today. I have no problem with that”.

“Or even the president. When they no longer want to rely on me in the national team, I’ll be the first to speak to them about it”.

“If they rely on me, I rely on them. And the Portuguese people rely on me. That’s why I continue playing for the national team”

Boo hoo. Someone told him that he is surplus to requirements and he doesn’t like it. Embarrassing statements put on the guilt trip to get back on the team. How long did he think he could go on for.

Like I said on the other thread, they've won both their games - one without him.

Against Wales he was their worst player by far.

Fair play to their manager for picking their best team and not just pandering to Ronaldo.

I don't understand what he's doing. If your that good a player you must be able to see when you can't do it anymore

I agree; and Cristian Ronaldo is in danger of ‘doing a Messi’ and ruining his reputation

I have a feeling the coach will go before CR7 does, particularly if the squad are revolting, and that would be a shame

Mind you, he could always go on ‘Stars in their eyes’ and do his excellent impersonation of Leo Sayer singing, ‘I’m a one-man band’ :laughing6:

Said this on the other thread so just copied it here as this seems to be the main one.

The problem is do they want to win games or do they want to make Ronaldo happy? The manager, or any manager in his position is on a hiding to nothing and if 7 other players, especially if they're important players, walk because Ronaldo is dropped then they may as well make him the manager, player, coach & head of the Portuguese F.A. all rolled into one. The difference between Ronaldo & Messi is that Argentina can afford the luxury that Messi is now because they have a bunch of players who are good enough to make up for that luxury while Portugal do not, plus Messi doesn't sulk if it's not all about him for a game or two.

Tonight, Portugal without Ronaldo won 4-2 away at Denmark.

So fair play to Ronaldo for using an interesting method to prove Portugal are better without him.

Sounds like they'd hope he would retire before being pushed

Same with Bale. Even though he's younger than Ronaldo, his last season or so with Wales was painful to watch.

I have zero sympathy with Ronaldo. He's acting as always like a diva. It's all about him, not the country, just him full stop

I don't agree Bale could still pull a rabbit out of the hat, he wasn't the same player in the end but he left really young
