Very Interesting Stats

Sat Sep 12, 2026 6:13 pm

Looking at these stats you wouldn't say we were too far away and that is the feeling I think most of us have. We should be looking really hard at the free agent market to bolster the squad to tip us into a top half of the table team.

We are top of the Championship for possession

We are top of the Championship for shots per 90 mins

We have used the fewest number of players (because we don't have them)

We have put way more crosses into the box compared to other teams in the championship, by quite a considerable margin.

We've also had more corners than anyone else by some margin... and haven't looked like scoring from one. Not a big fan of this pile the whole team inside the six yard box.

We've had zero clean sheets

The corner stat is the interesting one and also crux of our problem or should say bbms? There's no plan most of times just lump in middle or far post with occasional flat near post ones! No variety is same with bbm tactics nearly always like for like subs resulting in like for like tactics no variety ? We may not have the players to impact game on bench but that doesn't top bbm from adjust way we play like play salech with Ashford or Robinson upfront not lone striker until 80mins or so? With those stats we should be comfortable but goals scored is the killer stat stopping our progress .

The most shots, the most corners, the most crosses. That is quite unbelievable isn't it...yet we've not won a game and only have 4 points.

I think the biggest problem with all that is how slow our build up play is. We are shooting and crossing and sending corners into a crowded box where all the opposition defenders are there, in position, waiting to defend. There is no fast paced surprise element to any of our attacking play.

Take Salech today and his diving header. I know he missed and the GK pulled off a good save, but we rarely see him running into the box like that where hes got a genuine chance to beat everyone to the ball. The defenders are usually there, ready, with their back to goal rather than running towards their own goal (and sh!tting themselves a bit whilst doing so).

Usually, he's just jumping from a static, flat footed position. Unless the person crossing is David Beckham, its gonna be really hard to find him with that inch perfect cross needed.

I do like this style of play and I love tjat we have an identity, but it needs some tweeking to get the best out of it and give us the results we need and deserve.

It's almost like someone is preparing the team to meet certain statistical/analytical criteria, none of which seems to be scoring goals or winning matches.

Almost like an academy set up where winning is not the objective, but look at the stats!

Maybe that analyst went off to Leeds as he knew BBM ball in the Champ would not be featuring many wins.

100% BBM doesn’t want to win games or score goals.

Did you honestly write that?

As I've said before, it doesn't matter how well we play if we keep conceding soft goals.

It should have been clear for everyone to see, our defence needed to be significantly improved.

We've failed to do this, so we will keep conceding soft goals and throw away points.

We will get relegated unless the required improvements are made in January, but it will probably be too late by then.

You've got to be on a wind up surely?
We have played teams off the park and if we were half decent in front of goal we would be in the top half right now and not a single person would be whinging, the only thing bbm can really be criticised heavily for is the transfer window
