If Lawlor plays against Charlton

Fri Sep 11, 2026 11:19 am

Does that mean he'll be roped into the Wales squad ?

I think if he's available for his club then he has to report for international duty if selected.

I've no doubt Bellamy will select him if he can.

Therefore I'd leave him out of our squad until after the international break.

It looks like beat case scenario Lawlor is on the bench at Charlton. Don't see Bellamy then picking him he hasn't played for months

As much as I would like to see both Lawler and Colwell fit to face charlton from a Cardiff City point of view I’d prefer them both to miss out and return after the international break.Rather than risk them coming back from international duty injured

You can get injured in any game. I can understand not wanting to risk them if they have had a lot of games and need a rest, but if fit Lawlor in particular could benefit from a run out. Its unlikely he would be given a full match anyway so he could come back match fit ready to play an immediate part in the back line.

Some people seem to be under the impression that if Lawlor plays 2 minutes against Charlton, Bellamy is going to take that as a green light to have Lawlor start 4 games straight, why on earth would he do that? He's not a moron. It would suit us for him to go and get some game time

But if bellsamy does come looking for him tell him to f.ck off he has injured him twice once in a needless friendly

He hasn't played him when he's hurt, people get injured it's part of football. Unfortunately Lawlor seems to be injury prone at the moment. If he gets in the Wales squad and that's a huge if to start with Bellamy will be responsible with his game time

Did he need to play lawlor for nearly the whole game in a friendly ?

No he didn't but you can apply that to any friendly and any player that gets injured.
