That would be good buisness for tan only, as he would not have to dip into his pocket but we will have lost lawlor and now new money.

it's not all about tan ? Don't you think bbm as some to say on matter as well as lawler? Other teams sell players to balance books
(that's why w-ham have sold players now) so what makes us any different.... believe it or not football is a buying & selling buisness that's how it works and all clubs do good & bad deals

I understand how things work al Brentford and Brighton have been good models ,
but where is the NEW money Backing Bbm ?
did Tan tell bbm when in Malaysia sell lawlor to produce funds.

Monty, sadly at most clubs, seemingly including ours, any ‘new’ money is often generated from player sales; and when that money comes via the academy, it’s a win/win

However, I’m firmly in the ‘not yet and not to a fellow Championship club’ camp

As for Bayern Munich, don’t forget who their manager is, and his link to the Welsh international manager, who thinks incredibly highly of the player concerned! :thumbright:

Not every time but generally I would agree. It was more the point of it being an internet rumor.

Keeps us all interested & engaged though.

Roll on the start of the season.

Understand about money from player sales, but the backing of bbm that was talked about recently on the forum did not mention the sale of lawlor to back bbm ,personally I hope he stays with us this season and West ham are in the same division if they where prem I could understand a move more.

It’s still early days to be stating BBM isn’t being ‘backed’ by Tan, so it’s a game of ‘wait and see

I’m not sure what I would consider as ‘backed’, but I’m ‘happy’ that a tabled bid of £5m+ for a 20 year old player is still considered a good amount to spend in the Championship

For me, that would mean NBM is being ‘backed’ by his boss(es); but actually spending those sums of money currently remains to be seen :ayatollah:

Hopefully this is just gossip. We should be building a team around this guy, not selling him. Plus, I haven't got much faith in our other 3 CB's.

Another season with us in the Championship working under BBM will do him the world of good and his stock will only rise.

Don't buckle CCFC...unless we genuinely have no money to spend which makes this different then.

Brentford took 8yrs to get it right ... Brighton have a very god owner who is a Brighton man so expect good things for them from him in way of backing.... did tan say sell lawlor?..I've no idea haven't read it but where did this £5m come from (for that bid) the sale of lawlor?
I do know bbm and family had great time with tan from the pictures I saw.... monty still doesn't change fact that this thing with lawlor got nothing to do with tan ..... tan didn't ask west ham if they want to buy lawlor did he? Tan holds great store in youngsters so will he be keen to sell probably if money is right but then so would every other club sell if price is right! Can we manage without lawlor i would say yes but we will lose certain aspects of his game when going forward unless of course bbm replaces him with same type of player but more experienced... 15m with 30%+ sell in is good buisness if it happens of course ...if it doesn't it's back to tan wont be backing bbm....until season starts and presumably with the new players bbm and fans all know we require

The problem is that even if we get a large transfer fee how much of that will be available to buy new players?

Tan has been cutting back for years.

Perhaps BBM is reluctant for some reason to buy players. He will know however that we're worse off than last season already and if he buys another Osho to replace Lawlor we're really in the shit.

As I said in another thread, it's great to be linked with £6m players but we'll be competing with bigger and more attractive clubs for these sorts of players and we seem to lose out almost every time.

Have we been looking at that Tolaj bloke and if not why not? Surely we can compete with Bristol City FFS? Underachievers for years, no better fanbase than ours, what makes them a more attractive proposition than us?

We couldn't wait to get rid of Ramsey as soon as we could - just hope we don't make the same mistake with Lawlor

Davids
i pretty much agree with what you say a lot of fans on here seem to look at anything over 2 million as a shocking amount and anything over is silly money ,sadly there is a value on quality and to get it, you have to pay or keep looking in bargain basement .

Anything over £10M and he'll be gone; and for a first season prospect, would be good business all around.

Re: Updated : “ Dylan Lawlor “

Based on the crazy amounts being shelled out for players these days and what with the Hammer having plenty of money to spare… I’d reckon City should get £20-25 million easily. I wouldn’t complicate the sale with add ons or future valuations.
Hopefully BBM can get in at least 3 half decent players to bolster our spine.

No sell on even if potentially lawlor could be worth 50m+ if sold in future? Not a good deal at 25m then

Re: Updated : “ Dylan Lawlor “

Isn't this a standard ploy by agents to renegotiate their players' contracts? Dylan was pure potential last season, which was realised last season, albeit in L1. He gets more wages, the agent a bonus, and the club and Dylan create rules around future moves

I wouldn't be surprised to see a post saying Dylan has extended.

One option could be to install a release clause if a PL club come in for him, maybe £20m.

That’s a perception in the main, not a fact; although there have been ‘must sell to survive’ periods, like when The Riddker was in charge

And selling our captain to pay the taxman and wages.

It’s not a thing under Tan. He has made people pay proper money for our players.

If we can get 20 million for Lawlor we take that surely?? He’s one injury away from being worth so much less. Never performed at Championship level consistently.

He is very much currently potential.

That's why we should get as much as we can if we're going to sell and also make sure we incude a sizeable sell-on clause.

You're right about injuries of course but if he stays fit the "potential" is huge.

With all respect and I mean no offence but it’s a naive view.

Of course he’s happy here but if a big club like West Ham are the like come in for him and triple or quadruple his salary he’ll be off like a shot.
