I was told that he is currently on trial at spurs. Could be rubbish but someone I know his son had a trial at Cardiff recently and has a lot of friends in the academy and apparently he is or was on trial there recently which may make sense if all these clubs are now after him.

Few years ago I would have recommended him to go as we did not develop our talents through the first team However now with BBM i think that his best option would be to stay and develop with us and get a chance of first team football

I hate to see talented players going to these big clubs ,who just want to make sure they have the best for there club,but not so much for the players development they try then out then discard them, and farm them out on loan.

Totally agree.

Speaking to a friend at the club, he thought Villa were also in the mix. It appears parental pressure playing a big part in any potential move....

Unfortunately, until the rules change, there's nothing the club can do if a player's parents, agent, or others convince them to sign for a different club at 16.

One thing Chesterfield and BBM have improved is giving these young players first-team football much earlier.

The EFL Trophy, for example, counts as first-team appearances, which means that when compensation is decided, it helps maximise what we receive.

Unfortunately, since Brexit, the biggest clubs can no longer sign players from Europe at 16. By the time those players turn 18, they can cost serious money. Instead, they're now targeting talented players from UK clubs at 16, where they might cost £1 million rather than £10 million a couple of years later.

We were very lucky in Lawlor's case. He's a Cardiff fan and wanted to stay and be part of what BBM was building. It also helped that so much attention was on Charlie Crew at 16 that other clubs largely overlooked him.

I still don't understand why a parent wouldn't see us as the best place for their child's development, especially with the direction the club is heading under BBM. But the pull of the biggest names will always persuade some families.

So his agent will put pressure on the parents and will help his the agents cv .

It wouldn’t be the ‘smart’ move right now, as we all know that the bigger clubs swoop up the EFL’s young talent pool ‘just in case’ they find a gem amongst the sediment and to stop their rivals getting them

The odds of ‘success’ are low at those levels but he is a huge talent though, and the sensible thing would be to stay here, work with a coach who truly rates him, can develop him the right way, and make him into the player he can be

I always moan about the rules but putting money into an academy to create first team footballers is hardly worth it unless you are a category A academy. It only suits the top sides who can more than afford to get shot of the 99% that don't make it. How many of our top talent have we lost over the last 5 years (who pretty much all have gone on to do nothing..)

No, it's actually the opposite.

If you get them playing first-team football and offer them an early pro contract, they don't have to sign it, but it's like adding an extension to your house before you sell it—you've increased its value.

The more you can add to a player's portfolio and development, the stronger your position when it comes to agreeing compensation.

It may also persuade the player to stay because they can see a genuine pathway into the first team.

The downside, as in Dinczew's case, is that you're also putting him even more firmly in the shop window.

As BBM has already said, he knew all about our academy players before he joined the club. There's no real way of keeping the biggest clubs away from your best talent. Since Brexit, they've invested heavily in securing the best young UK players, knowing they can either develop them for their own first team or sell them on for a significant profit if they don't quite make it.

As Crew and Biancheri found out, joining one of the biggest clubs doesn't always provide the quickest or best pathway to professional football.

That's not to say they won't still make it, but it may not happen as quickly as it has for Lawlor and Kpakio.
