Thank monty, I didn't realize it was this weekend so I had better sort out my season pass before then as it can be a bit of a pain to get it done quickly.

Can't think of anything worse than going to a friendly match on a warm day like it will be on Saturday.

I've got other plans on Saturday anyway, just can't get interested in friendlies.

Stop being so negative.

It's early days yet - we were only promoted three months ago you can't seriously expect the club to have appointed anyone or signed anybody yet.

No other clubs have signed anybody in the Championship - it's the World Cup don't you know? Loads of top World Cup players and goalkeeping coaches will be availabe as soon as the World Cup is over, all looking for a glamour move to Lincoln or Portsmouth.

Transfer window still open - we've got ages not to sign anybody before the window closes.

Honestly the negativity on this board is shocking. BBM being fully backed by Tan to bring in any 18 year old goalkeeping coach he wants but BBM waiting for the right child - I mean, man.

We go with what we have - but without Wintle or Kellyman.

We weren't promoted three months ago, it's less than that. Wrong on that.

We've signed Trott, so that is a signing. Wrong on that.

It was the manager's decision to let Wintle go. I know it's a novel idea, but you could try trusting a manager who delivered when the usual clowns wrote him off.

Kellyman hasn't gone anywhere else yet.

But other than that, your facts are correct.

I did think about the Roma game but not really worth me travelling for a friendly, especially as I'll be at the Wrexham game not long after.

It was , as Monty says, meant to be a light hearted comment against those who are so quick to throw the term "negativity" at anybody who dares to criticise or question the club. It's called having a different opinion and is as valid as those that only see "positivity" constantly.

I actually trust BBM more than any other manager we've had in recent times and certainly more than the last two clowns Bulut and Riza.

Unfortunately I don't trust those running the club to provide him with the tools he'll need to take the club to the position those positive thinkers believe it can get to, whether that be sufficient funds for players or a goalkeeping coach.

I'd love to think that last season's team (minus Wintle and Kellyman as it stands) will romp to promotion and we can all join in the positivity. In my opinion (and that's all it is) I think that without at least five Championship proven players we'll struggle badly, regardless of how well BBM did last season.

By the way, you forgot to say that I was also wrong when I said that no other Championship teams had signed players - a few of them have!

Monty, appreciate some, including you, will enjoy that, but it’s not for me. Fitness and testing of players/tactics apart, they are pretty meaningless, yet I’ve watched people on here dictating the season ahead on the strength of these ‘friendlies

For me, it goes all the way back to a testimonial (sadly, I forget whose but it defo wasn’t Jason Perry’s) where Tottenham Hotspur ‘promised’ to bring a ‘full’ team to Ninian Park at the end of a season. That team included the likes of Gazza, Lineker, and other major internationals, and tickets sales were high; but on the day the only ‘star’ was a certain Paul Stewart, who in fairness, tore us a new one!

I’ve not attended a ‘friendly’ or testimonial since; although I did buy tickets for testimonials of worthy players when merited. I just don’t attend :ayatollah:

Re: FIRST FRIENDLY COMING UP.

Friendlies mean different things to different people.

For some they’re meaningless with sometimes the first team players not playing and the use of substitutions constantly disrupting the flow. Usually ultra boring.

For others it’s a chance to see some football usually in the sun and a day out.

Like Sven and Worcester, I’m in the first camp. I have better things to do and won’t be bothering but what makes me laugh are the amount of posters on here who judge a friendly match on the coming season. I can usually predict who they are.

Re: FIRST FRIENDLY COMING UP.

Tue Jul 07, 2026 6:44 am

I understand there is nothing in a friendly apart from fitness I am only attending the Roma game to see how bbm copes with a foreign team,a lot travel to away friendlies for the crack as the cork trip has proven by the amount going .
I know they are meaningless to how the season will start ,but its a chance to see newbies, tactics etc nothing more.

More good than bad, though!

I think the poor acquisitions just notice more; and it’s one of the reasons I appreciate and agree with BBM’s ‘tight and interchangeable squad’ methodology, where we’re not ‘carrying’ anyone! :ayatollah:

Who remembers when sam hamman first took over?. Big feel good factor. Big crowds for pre season games .now my own feel good factor about 50%. We got a suberb manager in bbm .but i dont feel optimistic for the coming season (obviously hope im wrong).
