Ive read that its costing 70 million to build? , surely thats wrong ,what is it gold plated seats ?

CCS stadium cost £48m in 2009 which would be £78m in today’s money, so how on Earth have they racked up £70m for a 7,750 seater stand??

I know it'll be a stand with a double tier, but that seems excessively expensive.

As said above, they could have just built a new stadium with that money.

Thought cost was £18m immediately wg gave them the money hollyw took back the £12m or so loan thay gave club... make of yhat as you will! Accounting manipulation?

The main contractor Mr McDonagh was unavailable for comment but made a written statement. The original price of £20,000 was for cash and the two dumb Americans shook on it and a deals a deal. But materials have gone through the roof and the lads all left site for the Appleby Horsefair and haven’t come back so we had to get a new team over from Kilkenny.

The latest confirmed figure for Wrexham AFC’s new Kop Stand redevelopment is about £70 million.

More specifically:

* The construction contract is worth £69.29 million.
* The club has secured a £17.35 million grant from the Welsh Government toward the project.
* That leaves Wrexham AFC funding roughly £50–52 million themselves, with the remainder covered by the grant.

The new stand will:

* Increase the stadium’s capacity from around 10,700 to more than 18,000 (subject to final approved seating numbers).
* Seat up to 7,750 spectators under the revised plans.
* Include hospitality areas, media facilities, retail space, accessible seating, and UEFA Category 4-compliant facilities for international matches.

Earlier estimates in 2024–25 were much lower, but inflation, design changes, and the expanded capacity have pushed the project cost to around £70 million, making it one of the most ambitious stadium redevelopments undertaken by a Championship club.

I drove past the other day, it looks good to be honest and bigger than I thought. I think a lot of the cost of going into the corporate side of things too, it's effectively going to be like a main stand.
