A man has appeared in court after a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed at Barry Island had to have his lower leg amputated.

Idris Ahmed, from Riverside, Cardiff, is charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife following the incident on 25 May.

Ahmed, dressed in a grey sweatshirt, spoke only to confirm his name and address during the hearing before Cardiff magistrates on Saturday.

"This matter relates to a very serious incident, where the victim sustained a serious stab wound resulting in the amputation of his lower leg beneath the knee," said Angharad Jones, prosecuting.

"The offence was in a public place on a very busy Bank Holiday with hundreds of people around."

Defending, Ellis Worsley said the defendant denied being involved.

Ahmed was remanded into custody to appear before a judge at Cardiff Crown Court on 3 July.

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the incident and said the victim was critical care at Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales.

I wonder if we should respond to this with rage:

A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the "unprovoked and senseless" murder of a Saudi Arabian student.

Mohammed Algasim, 20, was stabbed in the neck outside student accommodation in Cambridge in August 2025.

Prosecutors said construction worker Chas Corrigan, of Holbrook Road, Cambridge, attacked Algasim with a kitchen knife after "an evening of drinking and using drugs".

At Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday, Corrigan was sentenced to life, to serve a minimum term of 22 years and six months in prison after he was found guilty of murder at an earlier trial.

Corrigan's father, Peter Corrigan, 50, was also jailed for two years after pleading guilty to assisting an offender after concealing high-visibility clothing that his son had been wearing at the time of the attack.

Ned, how are these two abhorrent (in their own right) offences linked? :?

You're right. The white British man murdered someone unprovoked, while the incident in Barry just saw a serious injury occur.

100%

I guess the posters on here ranting over their own (oft ill-considered before commenting) political agendas are actively looking to link every incident to each other when each occurrence has its own identity and idiosyncrasies!

You genuinely believe that the anger occurred because it was a white person that got stabbed, and not because of the police reaction to the incident. Mad

So would you be calling for rage if the victim in Southampton was black? Of course you wouldn't.

How about we all have a few weeks off and then come back and post about cardiff city matters and football in general?

What do you think the reaction would have been, if the victim was black.
Imagine an innocent black kid being stabbed , then arrested, handcuffed and allowed to bleed out by retarded coppers. The whole country would be ablaze.
