This would be a statement that we are back in the Championship,99% of fans wanted promotion we did it,i for 1 cannot wait for the season to start and I am looking forward to tough games, a lot of games this season the fans were not interested,
this all changes now, we will be underdogs in a lit of games and really having to get stuck in playing for the shirt.
I know the fans will be completely different this coming season there will be more passion shown and we will be cheering them on ,every crunching tackle every corner the atmosphere i predict will be completely different.
Hence a bumper gate for our first home game.

I would love to see it but i do not see that happening unless Spurs come down and we have them for our first game back

It has only been a couple of weesince our season finished,I am missing going to footy on a saturday already, definitely looking forward to the first game of the season home or away,we have some big clubs to play this season.can wait for the fixtures to come out as well.

Monty’s right if fans really believe in BBM and The CCFC Squad, why not?
We should get 30,000 First Home Game in the Championship
Sat May 16, 2026 12:41 pm
I also agree with Monty.
We need to aim high for our first home crowd of the season.
Sat May 16, 2026 1:58 pm
Depending on the opposition I can see it being between 23-27k
Sat May 16, 2026 4:02 pm
Very unlikely though, isnt it?
We havent had 30,000+ in a league game below the Premier League (not counting cups).
Top 5 league attendances, over the past 10 seasons excluding the prem..
28,648 Swansea City F.C. 16 Sep 2023 Championship
27,280 Lincoln City F.C. 7 Mar 2026 League One
25,991 Leeds United F.C. 13 Jan 2024 Championship
25,803 Bristol City F.C. 28 Oct 2023 Championship
24,656 Leicester City F.C. 29 Dec 2023 Championship
Variables being the team (all above were away sellouts and 'big games' for us) and a good transfer window.
I'll be there, regardless.

Your correct with the figures but I really think we could do 30,000 it's a very big game and season ahead,
we really need to push every button to get to 30,000, how nice would it be for all concerned fans team manager to walk out onto the pitch infront of a massive atmosphere how nice for us fans to be rewarded with the biggest atmosphere since the chelsea game.
As Annis says regulary why not, if you love the football club there is no excuse for me the club need to push cheap tickets any child under 10 free admission the ground needs to be decked out in blue, our last home game there was a handful of balloons how poor from the club .
I would love to see cardiff do a Leeds with scarfs swirling a whole canton end scarf swinging would be fantastic.
Let's hope the club do better than the last home game and lets sort out this segregation in the favour of Cardiff city fans.

Hope your right but your track record isn’t great as you said pre-season that our ground would be virtually empty in L1.
Only joking before you swear at me again Monty boy
I don’t think we’ll get 30k but it should be up to 25k. Hope I’m wrong

Me, too!
However, I have to say I’m actually glad of the summer break this season and see it as an opportunity for the whole club (owner, Board, manager, players and supporters) to reset, positively develop the squad, and go into the new
Championship season on a high note
Positivity from all will be key this summer and into the new season!

Most of my statements about attendances are hope rather than fact, I have always tried to encourage, shove, more fans to attend, and forget the budd if you like, I should have called you
OriginalGrangeEndBlue it was easier to write budd.

Perhaps more important than 30k for the first game would be to get the season ticket sales comfortably north of 20k although they're not mutually exclusive. Even more crucial would be getting 2 or 3 k new season ticket sales in the family stand. We must have missed a generation of young supporters.

I agree with the family stand staring at a near empty end of the ground was quite demoralising for everyone, along with nashes segregation.
As I said at the start of this topic the club need to sort something to attract fans not just for the first game, but the entire season.

Unless is a huge match like v west ham, jack's or Bristol we all know we won't get to 30k for opening game.
This is the size of our club 25k us more likely but depends on away fans.
We are 30k regular attendances only in premiership

Fair enough,
but we are back in the championship with bbm and new style of play and if fans think like me they will be there like they did for chelsea
(the game i deliberately avoided) but that was for different reasons .
But i think we will be very close to 30,000 or should I say we should be near that number it needs a big build up it is the biggest game since that chelsea game.

Monty, you're talking about Cardiff City here ! As has already been said we will only get 30k if Spurs get relegated and are our first home game.
If we were back in the Championship after many years in the lower divisions then yes there may well have been extra interest and a huge boost in season ticket sales. But to quote many of the online bloggers 'Cardiff had been circling the drain for many seasons before their inevitable relegation'. Fans had grown weary of the football served up and although last season was mightily impressive for a number of reasons, our previous relegation is still very recent.
I hope I'm wrong but we're just not a 30k backed team and won't be unless we get back into the Premier League. That's being realistic not negative.

It's holiday season for a lot of people and our fickle fans sometimes take a lot of persuading to actually get off their arses and attend games, I would say 22,000 would be a good attendance for our first game depending on the opposition, if the football is good like the season we've just had then hopefully we can build on that.
