Jay Bothroyd says former club Cardiff City must aim for the Premier League following their rapid return to the Championship.
The Bluebirds will be back in the second tier next season having bounced back from relegation in 2024-25.

He’s absolutely right of course but did he mention the ‘I’ word?
Because that’s what we’ll need without doubt - Investment.

Jay is a top guy with genuine love for our club. As usual he is speaking sense and everything he says is true we should not accept mediocrity and just be grateful to be in the championship. I fear however that under the current regime that’s exactly what we will get. We have an ownership who for whatever reason seem to have lost interest in our great club so I’m afraid we can only hope that they will finally look to sell. Then maybe someone who will listen to people like Jay can drive us forward.

I think he's being a bit over the top here. He was a great player for us but speaks some bollocks sometimes.
Top two is out of our reach. We'd have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to be in contention probably.
Play-offs is an outside possibility for any team, but can't set our expectations as that.
I will be happy with a mid table finish and if we are in contention for the top eight then that's a nice bonus. I say this because I don't expect us to spend loads of money.
If we set our expectations too high, we're setting ourselves up for disappointment.

I don’t see where he says top two next season.
He’s stating as a club we need to be competing each season be it play offs or automatic.
He means that’s where we should be and not like previous seasons of struggling.
He’s 100% right surely?
