Canton sold out .. 280 left in the usual seats open in Ninian with an extra 570 now left in block 117 which is only opened when Ninian Stand is near to selling out. 700 odd in Grandstand and 900 in Family stand

can't imagine Northampton bringing too many ?

Saturday is going to be a party. BBM said he's been told it will be a good crowd.

But last night's attendance was disappointing.

looking at those figures if true surely we will be close to 24,000 + on Saturday

In your opinion, and that’s fine

You think that just under 19,000 in Division 3 midweek with very few away fans is poor but when you look back at our history it isn’t

In 2016/17 we averaged 16,564 in the Championship

Our average attendance this season is 19,398
When we got promoted to the Premiership under Warnock it was 20,164

Seriously guys, our crowds, on the history of our club, and where we are in the league are phenomenal

We can sit here all day and talk about the catchment area etc but we already get phenomenal support from these areas, if it wasn’t for the support from outside of the City then we would have a problem

You do make some valid points.

But I just get frustrated. I travel 70 miles on the train for home games which is over two hours in journey time. Others travel further.

I know it's not about who travels the most etc but it's frustrating that football fans down the road from the stadium can't turn up for not only their local team, but a team that are winding up a very successful season.

Great post.

We are better supported now than we've ever been in my 50 years of supporting city. We won't get 25k average crowds unless we are in the prem and then most of the extra crowd will be there to see the opposition.

Until the club promote the club around the city and surrounding areas and give free tickets to schools our crowds will stay the same.

Wayne S wrote:I don't get his obsession with attendance. We get what we get, that's it.

For every indicator to a higher crowd like, promoted or free tickets, there are opposite indicators like a school night and nothing on the game for us.

All I know is we can sustain large crowds when football is the No.1 entertainment activity in the city. That only comes with top Championship / Premier League football.

We are not a football obsessed city, like a Sunderland or Newcastle. We are affected by the success of Cardiff as a venue, there's too much going on here.

I totally agree - for a club like ours, unfortunately, attendance will always be a direct function of the level of football (i.e. what division the game is in), the opponents, how successful Cardiff are in the current season and the time and day of kick off. It's a fact of football life.
I was at the Port Vale game with my daughter and grandson and we went to support the boys and celebrate promotion with them but to be honest as it was the first home game after achieving promotion, I was disappointed at how little the club had done in terms of celebrating promotion at that game and with the lack of cutting edge in terms of the quality of football played - it was a bit of a non-event. All I saw was 5 blue balloons that came on from the crowd who were out sung by less than 300 Vale supporters!!!! If all the celebrations are going to be on Saturday, I suspect the attendance and atmosphere then will be more appropriate.
Upwards and onwards!!

The club did a cheap tickets deal for Port Vale , hardly any were sold , apart from driving to fans houses and taking them back home after the game theres not much more that can be done

Our hardcore fans are as good as they come home and away

But its the rest of the population of south wales who are the problem and historically they have not turned up in big numbers to support this football club , its always been the case

Big event ...chelsea game .....gimme a ticket ......week in week out .....they vanish

Leeds in the FA Cup , 2002 .....21 k sell out

Peterborough a week later .......10 k

I predict about 22 k average next season .....possibly more if we are challenging the top six

A cheap ticket deal once or twice a season is not enough. There's loads the club can do to encourage fans to attend more often.

Give free tickets to schools and colleges to encourage the younger generation to attend, they are the future.

Cheaper tickets for U16's all season. As said, they are the future.

Promote the club around Cardiff and surrounding areas with posters, etc.

A club shop in the city centre.

Put blue flags on seats to make it a better atmosphere which will encourage fans to attend more often.

Close the ridiculous gap between us and the away fans to create a better atmosphere.

A fan zone outside the ground with reasonably priced beer, food and entertainment.

That's just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure there are loads more they can do to promote the club.

I do agree with the rest of your post.

That was a disgrace and shows how badly off the field we are run.

I heard a steward say it was closed because of the queue to get in shop and it was blocking entry to the posh seats-their words not mine

I'm sure there will be a bumper crowd in terms of season tickets for next season
6 potential derby matches (Jacks, Bristol and Wrexham(potentially) )
1 huge club (Spurs or West Ham)
Play-off goes down to 8 places

3 reasons already to come and watch the club next season
