" Good point in the end but a poor performance "

Tue Apr 14, 2026 8:50 pm

A great point in the end but really wanted us to build on Saturday's good performance but that was a poor performance tonight.

In truth, we were lucky to get a point.

Too slow doing everything for most of the game and it was only Salech that saved the day.

Yes we are going up and I have faith in BBM but that performance was disappointing.

BBM's subs got us the point.

Have to be much better on Saturday at Reading where hopefully we can seal promotion.

But I will take the point because we were not good tonight.

My MOTM was Trott , kept us in it.

We looked really leggy tonight but thought we deserved a point. Who cares about performances now. Massive point and so pleased for Salech. We are going up!

Ned,
we cleared off the line trott 2 point blank saves, and the crossbar twice, our luckiest draw this season.

I agree with you, we didn't deserve the point so take it and run.

We looked second best tonight pass pass pass with again no end product but we never gave up and got a well deserved point

Sky Sports reported that we have won more points from a losing position than any other side in League 1 - yes we were second best, but that stat alone tells me we are worthy of promotion, the determination in the team even if the football quality at times isn't top.

As you say, poor performance although possession stats were good.
Just not creating enough goal chances, or indeed taking the chances we create.
Looking at our forward line goals scored this season, it is a shame that Tanner has only found the net once, compared to Willock eight times and even Ashford and Isaak have chipped in with five.
Tanner is a fine player, but his goal return is simply not sufficient, considering our high position in the league.
But it will be great to see Salech return to the starting line up eventually as he adds another dimension.

Agree he needs to score more, but his assists for what is effectively only half a season after a serious injury are very good - and he's the only winger we have who wants to take the full back on, so creates a different problem for the opposition.

He's no Peter King yet, but he is still young and has improved hugely this season.

The people who say his delivery isn't good enough are talking rubbish another goal from a Tanner ball and his assist stats speak for themselves. His shooting is poor though, he should have bagged at least a couple more from the positions he finds himself in
