BRIAN BARRY-MURPHY: “ IF WE CAN WIN “

Thu Apr 02, 2026 9:23 pm

Brian Barry-Murphy spoke to the press ahead of our Easter Monday trip to Peterborough United, the first of seven remaining games in the 2025/26 Sky Bet League One season.

BBM:

"We played them in the FA Cup, and probably got an insight into the type of team they were starting to become." Brian began.

"They're a very good team; I think in the last fixtures of League One they were the youngest team in the whole of the EFL, and ourselves were second. You're going to see two very good teams, two very young teams, both going for the win. It should be a cracker.

"If we can win on Monday, we'll be in a brilliant position - that's our sole focus for now."

Brian and his squad will have enjoyed a 17-day gap between their previous fixture and our clash with the Posh, which has allowed for some valuable time on the training pitch.

The boss continued: “We've trained pretty intensely, and have benefitted a lot in terms of the amount of training time we've had with the players. It's been great for us to have that period.

“The nature of the league is that it's so intense and the fixtures come so quickly, that whenever you have a period where you can actually train without a game, it can feel as if it's a chance to refresh and focus on how we want to play.

“The players have been so good to put us in a position where we have such an exciting end to the season.

"Each game individually is different, and I definitely feel as if we've learnt a lot from the previous games. We've worked on a lot of things that are specific for us to be at our best, and now we have to go and show it."

Think we need to start Fish and Chambers get a bit of height advantage for these games now or set pieces could haunt us :bluebird:

We must beat Peterborough

I think we should stick with our best defenders in Lawlor and Fish.
I always think that Chambers can make mistakes at the back which 1 or 2 times this season cost us a goal or 2.
So stick with our best defenders and I am sure we won't leak much goals.

I think the team as a whole were tired last few games and now got a well needed rest
with Salech coming back I am sure the goals will come in for us.
I think he will be on the bench for the posh game and start the Bolton game.

I am worried if Kellyman and Ruben start together we need more fight in midfield ,need Wintle Robertson and and Joel to start and either one of the other two.
The ball needs to get forward quicker not too much of this sideways and backwards for possession sake

Fish although good in the air is too negative and sideways for me. It destroys any counterattack being so slow.
When he does spray the cross field 40 yarders, it’s often misplaced.
Lawlor and Chambers must start if fit.
