2nd, 3rd and 4th now have 21 points to play for. Stockport are six points off 3rd but have two extra games, so 27 points to play for.
Stockport also have the Vertu Trophy final against Luton.
All three in 3rd, 4th and 5th probably need four more wins than us because of our goal difference.
I just can't see them doing it.

I can't see us missing out on second place now that Bolton and Bradford are dropping points regularly.
At a guess, I think we may carry on losing a few points in the first four of the seven matches.
However, I also think we'll end the season with three wins in those final matches.
(Probably with a fully match fit squad back scoring goals again)

I've tried to be unbiased/conservative towards our final 7 games and even taking in our loss of form i give us 10 points, that's 21 in front of Bolton which means they can't catch us.

Even if we match our poor form of the last 7 matches 2 wins 2 draws 3 losses in the last 7 it will still be plenty to see us over the line,
But I think other teams results yesterday will relieve a bit of pressure off our lads and with a 2 week break I think our form will improve for the run in

Didn't realise Plymouth were just outside the playoffs

Fairplay to them .

Yes, they've crept up the table from a lowly position before Christmas and could be timing a play off position to perfection.

If Plymouth make the playoffs i think they'll win it.

Bolton will be playing Plymouth away next who are on fire as you've all said. If they are losing to Port Vale I can't see them getting anything there either. I can't see Bolton finishing 3rd at this point. Bradford are right there with them, their form is awful and their run in is horrible

We’re going up.
People need to start enjoying the promotion because next year will be a lot harder.

Goal difference with Bolton is only 16. That is good but not uncatchable over 7 games.( Remember when we lost out to Preston where it was 21with about the same number of games to go!!). So we need 11 points to be sure. Cant see Bolton winning the last 7 given they have to play virtually every team chasing a play off place as well as us.
However 8 points would almost certainly do it. Only 3 sides can catch us then. Bolton would have to win 6 games out of 7 , Stockport 8 out of 9 plus a draw from the other, or Bradford City all 7. Cant see that happening and neither can the bookies as we are between 100-1 on and 200-1 on for automatic promotion.

Bradford - Stockport and ourselves all have to play Bolton - So points will be taken off some of these clubs v Bolton .

Bolton aren't going to finish 3rd their form is awful and their run in is brutal. If Plymouth beat them on good Friday they are only 4 points behind
Tue Mar 24, 2026 5:11 pm
Peterborough draw
Bolton draw
Huddersfield loss
Reading draw
Port Vale win
Northampton win
Mansfield draw
10 points and a 2nd place finish. With a 11 to 14 point gap behind Lincoln
Tue Mar 24, 2026 5:46 pm
I think we need 3 more wins to clinch promotion COME ON CITY!!!

Bolton have a crazy run in.
They play 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th & 11th.
All of which will be going for a top 6 finish.
They will be fighting with Bradford and Stockport to NOT finish third as no one will want to play Plymouth.
