Kellyman or Rubin not both

Tue Mar 17, 2026 11:06 pm

Another game with zero shape as both our "dribbler" false striker, and "passer" attacking midfielder drift all over the place to get the ball.
Someone needs to hold their position; we make it so easy for the opposition to pack the box, as all our players are outside it.

Its Kellyman and Joel as Rubin just is not a striker and Kellyman half is. Or, Ashford 9 with Rubin ACM

Time for BBM to grow some. At least he doesn't have to make the Osho decision for a while.

Agree and for me Kellerman gets the gig .

I nearly said Blackpool is a game where going without one or t’other would be worth a go but after Tuesday, I think this is a game against a small town in Preston, we simply must win, so we need our best players on the field; and those two are right up there for me! :ayatollah:

Kellyman is a dribbler, but he can't get the ball as a 9 unless he comes deeper, which is where he wants to be, leaving us with no focal point.
Rubin is a passer, he draws you in, beats you, opens up the passing lane he always intended to create and looks for the return pass, he scores by accident when he has no one to pass to !!!

We need the option to run in behind, Rubin will find them. I'd swap Ashford and Kellymen if we want our best players on the field

Yea it's one or the other for me, play Rubin if the games nitty gritty, abit physical with forward passes being made through tight spaces.

Play Kellyman if the game is more open and pacey as he's more mobile and obviously quicker. Kellyman would also do a job in a nitty gritty game described above - but more as an impact player.

There were times Kellyman was the furthest player forward, the ball went down the wings and he was passed by Colwill who was busting a gut to get into the box.

I really like Kellyman, he has some skills and that’s clear for all to see, but to me at this moment he’s a luxury player with no team mentality. If he hasn’t got the ball or is unlikely to receive it he stands still, in this league, if a player does that it’s a defenders dream because they don’t want to be covering runners all the time
