Leicester City FC deducted six points
Leicester City have been docked six points after being found to have breached the EFL’s profit and sustainability rules for the 2023/24 season.
The points deduction leaves Leicester outside of the Championship relegation zone only on goal difference.
An EFL statement read: "Today, the independent disciplinary commission, appointed under Premier League Rules, has issued its decision confirming Leicester City FC breached (i) the P&S Rules in the three-year reporting period ending with Season 2023/24, and (ii) its obligations to disclose documents.
"It has recommended a deduction of six points.
"The EFL board has this afternoon met to consider the decision and in accordance with Regulation 87.7 has determined that the sanction should be applied to the Championship table with immediate effect."
Following promotion to the Premier League in 2024, the EFL’s investigation into Leicester's alleged breaches of the profit and sustainability rules transferred to the Premier League.
Leicester were referred to an independent commission in May 2025 and it determined that the club had breached the relevant P&S threshold by £20.8m over the three-year assessment period from 2022 to 2024.
The commission found that the club’s refusal to provide its annual accounts to the Premier League by the relevant deadline was a breach of the league's rules.
It also dismissed a claim by the club that it had demonstrated exceptional cooperation throughout the proceedings. Following agreement by the parties, and consistent with the relevant guidelines, the commission agreed that the club’s improving financial position over the relevant assessment period was a mitigating factor.

‘A nightmarish season goes from bad to worse!'
Sky Sports EFL editor Simeon Gholam:
A nightmarish season goes from bad to worse for Leicester City. A points deduction was always expected, but to hit them at their lowest point after such a poor run - and at a time where they don't have a manager in place - makes it all the worse.
A decade ago on this very day they had sauntered back to the top of the Premier League, and would not relinquish that position again as they marched to the title.
How things change, this deduction takes them down to 20th in the Championship, above the relegation zone on goal difference only.
The squad is talented but lacking any kind of confidence or cohesion right now. This certainly won't help matters.
Andy King, a club legend and one of the men who lifted that trophy on that halcyon day a decade ago, leads them in interim charge again on their trip to Birmingham City on Saturday, fresh off the back of debuting with a 2-0 defeat at home by Charlton.
Anything but a win at St Andrew's, which feels unlikely, could see them fall into the bottom three. Their lowest point since 2008.
It originally took them seven years to go from League One to Premier League champions. It could well have taken just 10 to go back the other way unless they reverse the current slide.

Leicester City have been hit with a 6 point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules in the Premier League.
They now sit just outside the relegation zone on goals difference. On the 10th anniversary of the greatest story in football history, the Foxes could be relegated to league one..

Shame for the fans, but rules are rules and I have little sympathy with the club.
It makes me laugh how the 115 charges against Man City keeps rolling on without conclusion.
The original charges were made 4 years ago, with an enquiry a year ago.
We still await a final decision and in the meanwhile they continue to spend massively in recent transfer markets.
It's as though it's been forgotten about!
