Positives of the transfer window.

Wed Feb 04, 2026 11:59 am

Some of the meltdowns on here are way over the top in my opinion. The main positives for me from the transfer window.

1. We didn’t lose any young prospects. That’s huge for our prospects of going up.
2. We have cover for our weakest area squad wise (left back).
3. We didn’t bring in any poor players that will disrupt the dressing room and weigh the squad down.

I really don’t understand what people were expecting and I blame Tan for a lot but I trust that BBM thinks he has what he needs to take us up.

Agree with all of this.

We never sold because they mainly league 1 players we have and not proven higher the majority of them,no offers and a few talented injured.

I would simply say lets hope there is no meltdown if we fail promotion due only to injuries or suspensions.

100% guarantee the same people saying we didn't need any signings will be the ones shouting loudest if we don't go up

For me we needed two playes a left back which we got and a like for like to cover Salech, if he is out for longer than expected I believe against physical teams we will struggle up front and will regret not bringing in cover

There’s meltdowns when we draw.

There Will definitely be meltdowns if we don’t go up despite hardly anyone actually tipping us to go up.

(If you did I will apologise fully if you show me a screenshot of your prediction)

I will be melting if we fail due to what I have outlined, your meltdown however will be if Oxford are relegated.

What most people find frustrating is that for a relatively small outlay we could have virtually guaranteed promotion. We are well blessed in defence and midfield. We probably have enough to go up but we are still a bit short upfront and are very much dependant on Salech coming back and staying fit until the end of season.

Now Now Monty,

Oxford United are very close to Neil’s Heart and he comes on here just to wind up loyal and sincere Cardiff City fans like yourself,
I use to be Neil’s Target.

I Predict Oxford will go down and maybe further down just like Neils other Club Shrewsbury Town.

I’ll leave the meltdowns to your Oxford equivalents. There are plenty.

Me, I think there’s a lot more to life than if Cardiff have signed a f*cking striker or not.

Absolutely with you, But Tan had NO intentions of Backing us and to be fair BBM knew this when he took the Job.

Your language gets worse,
well it does' nt bother you as you follow a different team to cardiff so I understand why us not signing a striker would' nt bother you down there in the shire's.

Re: Positives of the transfer window.

I think most would agree we needed a left back and a striker.

I believe Tan thinks we can go up with the squad we have. He may be right but woe betide him if he is wrong.

I think we have enough to go up but the RIGHT striker would have been nice.

We did sign Herbie James to the U21's and you know how BBM likes to blood the youngsters.

Monty, you made a b*stard sign. It doesn’t give you autonomy over who are Cardiff fans and who aren’t.

Since Salech got injured we've scored 7 goals in less than 3 games. We'll be fine

I'm sure you've been told before, but just in case you weren't paying attention then - don't let the facts get in the way of a good story!

Probably get absolutely slated for this... but here goes...

I was more than happy with our incomings.

Delighted at signing Issac Davies.

Any Football manager fans  that ever play as a lower league team and takes young uns to rise up the tables will maybe know about his potential.

Granted, i know thats f**k all to go by, but young and hungry with ability to learn and not disrupt with an ego is deffo the ethos BBM has instilled at Cardiff and i think with Davies and James coming in, theyre deffo of that mould.

I’m with you on that, I think Tan checked out a good few years ago. The return to blue was the ultimate loss of face for him I’d imagine.

We’re lucky to have BBM and I trust that he’ll deliver with the squad we have now

I'm happy.. thought we might have lost lawlor and kapakio and maybe bagan.. so no complaints... Still pay. The highest wages in league. Except maybe Luton. Players coming back .. hoping for a good run in

Are you for real ?

If we let it be known that Lawlor, Kapakio, Salech, Ashford, Robertson, Willock and possibly others were available, Championship teams would be banging on our door to agree a deal.

By the same reasoning I hope people say the January window was handled right if we do get promoted.

Spot on ,why break up a winning , settled ,tight knitted squad .

Re: Positives of the transfer window.

Add in the fact that we’ve brought in some exciting young talent to work with BBM.

I don’t think there’s one fan that wouldn’t have sold Bagan last year, and now he’s the most consistent performer in our squad. BBM has worked miracles with him.

No chance of that happening. The agenda will be promoted in spite of Tan.
