BBM: We took unnecessary risks and Lawlor/Kellyman update

Sat Jan 10, 2026 10:32 pm

BBM:

"It was a very tough game. The first half didn't go the way we would have wanted, but a lot of that was down to how good the opponents were. We grew into the game really well in the second half, created good chances to win the game, but today it wasn't to be.

"We looked pretty dangerous in the first half when we got the ball forward quickly, and you saw us get in behind Leyton Orient's last line pretty effectively and dangerously. But we took some unnecessary risks - that was evident with the goal itself.

"I'm very pleased with the overall performance, whilst wanting more. I feel as if we can improve a lot, and there are signs in the first half today of the things that I mean when I say that. The players showed the type of improvement in the second half that we want. Some of our shooting was pretty wild though.

"I thought Nathan played really well afterwards; he made a great save for us, and in the second half his performance was pretty flawless. I think as a team we just misinterpreted what was needed at that early stage of the game. I thought we understood what was needed in the second half much better.

"Yousef played a really good game, really brave, and led the line really well. I thought he and Alex Robertson calmed us down when we needed it, Dave Turnbull showed a real calming influence on the team, and I'm really pleased with how Yousef led from the front and pressed really aggressively throughout.

"We couldn't play Dylan Lawlor because he wasn't fully fit from the hamstring issue last week. It's the first time Omari has gone through this schedule, so we'll try and get him back quickly and make sure he's okay. It doesn't look serious."

It was waiting to happen

Our keeper who gave away our first goal I always felt it was going to happen don’t get me wrong I think he a good goalkeeper and as saved us many times this season but messing around with the ball at his feet put us on the back foot and we had to chase the game he’s nearly been caught out a couple of times this season with the ball at his feet I always felt it would happen but we got a point either team could have won it at the end

Trott messed up, he took too many touches for sure. He could have even just cleared it out of play.

I do think Osho should shoulder a bit of the blame though. Bagan was completely free on the left but for some reason he choose to play a 1 2 with our keeper back on the goal line. Bizarre choice to make. Fish, Chambers and Lawlor would have played it straight away to Bagan as per what's drilled in to them on the training pitch. Osho just rusty and getting up to speed I suppose.
