Ryan Wintle

Anyone know if he's carrying an injury? He's not started many games lately with BBM preferring Turnbull instead who's not being playing well.

We've missed his "mopping up" in all the games he's not started, none more so than today.

I have no doubt that if he played today we would not have lost that game.

He'd have suffered today.

He's a luxary when the pace is slow. He's demonstrated enough times he isnt up for a battle.

Seen a few ask for him. If he's the solution, we're L1 next year also.

Chambers alongside Robertson for me.

Completely disagree. We are a much more solid and more organised team with Wintle in there. He protects the defence which was clearly missing today. He's calm on the ball and does the dirty work that goes unnoticed.

Yeah? Talk me through his Burton, Bradford and Stockport performances then?

Starting to agree that Wintle adds more stability in midfield.
Too many holes appearing with Robertson and the Colwill lads in the same team.
Wintle is more consistent than Turnbull, so I'd have him in the team until we are on a position to bring in a stronger, better quality replacement.

Wow! Out of the 15 games Wintle has started this season, you pick out the only 3 games we lost and haven't mentioned the 10 we won.

We should have smashed Burton off the park but missed loads of chances. Burton scored after Wintle was subbed.

Bradford were by far the best team we'd played at the time and deserved to win.

Stockport was a poor team performance. Not Wintle's fault.

To date Wintle has started 15 games, 10 of which we won with 3 lost and 2 draws.

He hasn't started 6 games, 3 won and 3 lost.

Stats show we are a better team with him in it.

My guess is he is trying different combinations and working out who is who.

Can he find a place for Turnbull? He doesn't fit and is a high earner. Can he influence at 6,8 or 10?

Where does this version of Robertson fit, its been a while since he saw him in U21's, and he didn't sit at 6 for Pompey; he was more of an 8 or 10

Surprised he hasn't tried Chambers at 6 yet, but his passing is ropey

Other than that, Wintle is carrying a long-term injury or is leaving in the next window

We’re definitely stronger defensively with Wintle in the team. He’s excellent at breaking up counterattacks, which is how all three goals against Blackpool and the only goal against Bolton came about.

It’s no coincidence that we looked far better against Wrexham with him in the side. For me, he’s only really struggled when Turnbull has played alongside him in central midfield and, to be honest, Turnbull tends to make our whole midfield look weaker.

Wintle and Robertson are the midfielders I would start every game.

I seem to recall Ryan Wintle took a knock but not sure how long it affected him playing-wise?

I think he (Wintle) and Robertson are a good call, maybe alongside Joel Colwill or even Calum Chambers; but fur me, not with David Turnbull. The two are good players in League One, but they simply don’t gel well enough together!

Wintle has been good this season overall and I think we look more solid with him in the team

Agreed, the relentless injuries and rotation at the back are killing us. Losing Lawler, Fish, Kpacio, and NG has constantly destabilised everything.

We need to stop the experiments and get back to basics. The team needs consistency: Trott, Kpacio, Fish, Lawler, Bagan, with Wintle sitting right in front of them. Let's build stability from there.
