Daland in talks to leave cardiff

Tue Aug 12, 2025 10:08 pm

According to bbm after tonight's game

Barry-Murphy has confirmed that Daland is holding conversations with other clubs over a potential exit, however the Irishman said he was unsure as to whether any departure would be permanent or a loan.

Plus:

Ethan Horvath and Jak Alnwick, who were notable absentees from the squad.

BBM:
“I don't know if they're close to leaving. I don't think it's right for me to say,it’s not down to me.”

I think we’re ok for them both to go as I think we have 2 capable ones other than them.

Question is will we miss him ?? , answers on a postcard please.

Not surprised because he's missed these last two games but a little disappointed.

He hasn't done that well with us but I do think there's a good defender with him. I just think he struggled with injuries which probably halted his progress, but could go on to do well.

Good luck to him.

I agree with you and also think that, a bit like Willock, his confidence is pretty low after a number of mistakes last season.

The worry for me is that he won't be replaced, just leaving the squad even more lightweight than it already is.

Who'll be our third keeper if both of them leave?

Is there somebody in the under 12s we can promote?

Although quite rare there have been times in the recent past where both first choice keepers have been injured or suspended and who can forget the emergency signing of Stephen Bywater? :o :o

I still have nightmares about him. Up there as one of the worst goalkeepers I've ever seen.

Peter Zois is surely the worst goalkeeper we’ve ever had.

Will anyone be left ?

If darland leaves we need to bring in a experienced CH as chambers is definitely not a CH

BBM obviously doesn't rate him or the other keepers from last season. I think we are looking for a centre-half starter on loan from Man City or one of his other connections.

If BBM continues to play Chambers at centre back then I'm afraid you have to question his judgement.

Our defence is fragile enough as it is without losing another option in the squad such as Daland.
If he leaves, I very much fear for our chances of promotion this season unless we bring in a very good centre back on loan as a replacement.

Another who has been poor. Offload. I don't think he's good enough, even for cover of Lawler (which is speaking volumes on its own).

Could free up wages for someone who can perform in this country; Daland is not that guy, in my opinion.

Worrying times, especially when it looks like we are only bringing loans in now.

The value of the club is decreasing yet again with assets being sold.

This has been covered elsewhere but a player arguably is a liability, given the ongoing wage commitment and risk of injury. If it were deemed an asset we’re not selling assets, we’re liquidating them, converting them into cash. I’d rather the cash to reinvest into a productive player.

I’m not a fan of Daaland and wouldn’t hold my breath on recovering anywhere near the £5m we paid for him. Think he should be sent out on loan in the hope he gets game time and confidence, because don’t think he’ll get either at a City this year.

As much as I think daland is slow he is a centre back 10 times better than chambers, plus he has height to defend corners chambers hardly jumps

In my eyes he’s an asset.

If we are selling him and getting a loan in return, the club value is going to decrease.

Put whatever spin you want on it, this is worrying times.

Hes been disappointing and we paid a bit of money for him , just hope we can get that back .

So if Daland goes and both keepers, that's 17 out and only 1 loan player in.

I was happy initially that we've managed to keep the majority of our best players here (Robertson, Colwill, Turnball etc) and BBM was always gonna have to trim the squad, get the wage bill down...but this is just getting a bit weird now.

How are we gonna challenge and sustain a promotion push with a very young and now thread bare squad?

BBM is playing a very risky game here. This is not all on Tan coz BBM was the 1 that ripped up the transfer policy and started again...huge 2 weeks coming up (off the field rather than on).

It did need trimming, and that is fine, but the board are probably saying “yes we will sign additions” whilst Tan moves the goalposts.

The blame is Tan, that’s why we are being linked to loans.

I’d guess BBM prefers quality young players. Maybe he leans toward loans because that’s his style, and it also offers better value for money, as long as it works out in the end, we won't care how he did it.

Let's see who he signs and judge then, Darland doesn't play so he's no loss at all the same as the keepers.

You could be right about preferring quality young players. Maybe he's not confident dealing with older, more experienced and perhaps more opinionated players - after all, he's a young, inexperienced manager himself.

It's rare that a team including a number of young loanees gets promoted and let's face it anything less than promotion this season is an abject failure on behalf of everyone at the club - owner, chairman, manager and players.

Darland indeed doesn't play but inevitably there will be injuries and suspensions which need to be covered and who's to say that a) anybody will be brought in to replace him or b) that any replacement will be any better than him?

Not looking to put a spin on it, personally I would lump him into the ‘dead wood’ category and think any clear out should include him. I saw promise in him early but like Willock, think he is a confidence player that we can’t afford to pander to at the moment. From a CB we need someone who will dominate, particularly with his height. He has the makings of a decent player but if he doesn’t want to be at the Club, best to let him leave. He should be running through walls not through the door.

I agree we’ve been stung before relying on loan players who just leave at the end of the campaign, meaning we get no benefit as a club when a player improves/benefits from a year of coaching. I don’t agree the club’s value decreases though.

Deceived

Wed Aug 13, 2025 11:39 am

Yet again - supporters and BBM. Tan doesn’t want to sell but will not buy players for a promotion push. If Daland goes we are already down to 3 centre halves. A very inexperienced side and when we have injuries and suspensions we will be down to bare bones particularly hard with league and more cup games this year. Colwill will be burnt out by October. BBM. Seemingly not allowed to buy players even though he said we need 3-4 quality players. No doubt the Clown will lose more money on the sale of Daland. More worryingly he said he doesn’t know the situation with Daland and the 2 keepers. He’s the bloody manager and yer recently he said we would sell only if it was good for the club. Well if they all go that’s 17 out and one in. Like all managers they have been duped and Dalman is equally bad.

Bit of a worry, this. Sounds like he wants four or five straight into the XI, centre-half top of the list, but plenty of other gaps to fill. Tan’s after promotion, so he can cash out, BBM wants it to boost his rep as a promotion-winning Manager. That means we’re gonna see a lot more coming in from here. Just hope he finds a few gems.
